Gun to my head, property taxes everywhere prob have a local component that would remain.
Nd has an oil +bribe farming economy and a conservative culture and demographic, so things like welfare are probably low as a % of gdp relative to, say, cali
Property tax accounts for about 33% of state tax income. Well, on average, so probably less for ND.
Sounds like a good idea to me. The problem is, they won’t cut out the bullshit programs to make up the cost. Instead, they will have teachers with community college degrees.
nd has been boom town for quite some time now. funny, most of the tickers we trade are the ones hiring.oxy,cvi,ups,chk.fed-ex. major freight companies, army corps of engineers. the pay is like old times, hardy and plentiful.
The big argument of the mindless tax cutters. Lets see. It didn’t work in Florida. It didn’t work in Texas. I didn’t work in Washington.
It is a recipe for bankruptcy.
I thought these people loved their country? Yeah they love it but they won’t pay to take care of it. They are happy to let soldiers die for them but they won’t pay a lousy 50 bucks. These people make me puke.
What do you mean “it didn’t work?” Florida and Texas don’t even have state income tax. Texas has the most robust economic growth of any state in the Union.
If Florida didn’t have such idiotic real estate speculation (and the resultant hangover), they’d be fine as well.
If you love your country so much you think that fealty is best shown through volunteering your money to inefficient bureaucrats, then please, volunteer some more.
As for me, I will continue to ask (patiently) why we can’t seem to “make do” on $2.5 trillion a year instead of $3.0 T.
SO how do they intend on paying for local government?
Like Schools, Libraries? Police, Fire Department, and other functions local govt’s tend to do?
They could place tickets everywhere, and make the citizens pay taxes in that way.
Cross the street illegally as in jaywalking. $250 fine.
Or they could siphon it off from the federal government. That means we would be paying for there services. So in a way they would be the new greece.

The citizens of the US are without a doubt overtaxed in general.
