I guess running out of other people’s money sucks when you are a government worker.
I recall reading in several places that some 53% of employed Greeks work for the National Greek government.
I guess they won’t be able to retire at 52 years old with a huge pension now.

      antidisestablishmentarianism

That’s what happens when government becomes too big, everyone becomes dependent upon it, and cutting them off means a lot of people are in trouble. It eventually becomes so bad that it’s morally irresponsible NOT to keep big government because all of the people that have become dependent upon it until like a cancer it consumes itself and all it’s fuel and dies.

It’s like the scorpion(government)+ the frog(the american citizen).

A scorpion said to a frog, “let me hop on your back, so you can swim me to the other side”
Frog says “no, you’ll sting me”
scorpion “Don’t be silly, I can’t sting, if I sting you, we’ll both die”

The frog then says okay and the scorpion hops on his back. In the middle of the lake the scorpion stings the frog and in the frog’s dying breath it says “but now we’re both going to die, how could you do that”
      “Because I’m a scorpion, it’s what I do”
And they all died a tragic death ever after…
      The End!

    anti’
that is only part of the reason. America was very similar in the prohibition days, but we were able to grow by leaps and bounds.
You should read The Shock Doctrine to see where and how other debts are accrued.
