    Cronkite:
Jake Gint usually takes care of defending Monsanto against any and all criticism of their genetically modified seed product, but, since he hasn’t spotted this yet, I’ll give him a hand.

You need both better sources for your news items and a better mental filter to pare the news items posted here down to items that are significant (i.e., not a story about the State Department charging some minor expenses to the wrong fund) and accurate (i.e., not this story).

The story claims that rootworm beetles have “developed resistance to the bioengineered “Roundup ready” crop,” and asks: “should humans really be eating fruits and vegetables that genetically contain [Roundup] pesticide?”

Roundup is an herbicide, not a pesticide, so it has nothing to do with the ability of worms or beetles to feed on corn plants.

Roundup ready crops do not “genetically contain” either pesticide or herbicide. The genetic modification of the crops enable them to tolerate the Roundup herbicide, allowing farmers to control weeds with Roundup without killing the crop.

Sources that publish such fundamentally inaccurate “information” are polluting the information stream. I suggest that you cut them off.
