Amazing how quickly everyone is willing to attest to the death of the king, no? You would think that after ten years now, some would be willing to give this bull the benefit of the doubt. Instead, we’ve got closet morticians coming out of the woodwork and stretching their yellow tape measures in anticipation of parsing out a pine coffin.
I say, “not so fast, dealers in embalming juice.” Who gave you leave to drag out these corpses, anyway? A quick once-over with the infrared scope will tell you they are merely sleeping. What’s more, a more practiced eye will tell you when to climb back on their dorsal fins and flukes, ready to ride the great beasts to glory. And yes, I have some suggestions…
The first–XG — may be ready right now. By the bright scimitar of Kirby Puckett, it is my #1 pick a the moment, despite Jeremy and Fly’s steady refusal to feature it in The PPT. No matter, just look at the fight in this young monster:
As you may note, that recovery candle could very well signify that XG is back and off to the races. My next two are not yet as ready, but in my mind offer some very appetizing entry possibilities in coming days. As they are crowd favourites (sic), you should feel favoured (sic):
Here is a stock– AG — that was trading over $27 in the most remarkable bull of the 21st century. And you might be able to get it at almost a 30% discount? Remember to give alms if you are so favoured, sir.
Last, is our lovely grandmama, RGLD, which may allow us entry into her cookie pantry at a most opportune price. Be on your best behaviour (sic) and she may deliver you a choice Tollhouse, or three:
Consider these next few days a rolling Christmas Eve for gimlet-eyed adults. Just remember to stay off the rum toddies so you’re not caught nodding.
Best to you all.

Thank you for all Mr. Gint..
Hilarious.
Ps- get you some pzg lest you have old sticky cadbury egg on your face.
I still remember Puckett’s homer in the ’91 WS like it was yesterday. I fucking hate the Braves.
Sincerely,
Pirate fan
Friend of mine from college is the Pirates GM now.
Odd, no?

Though the results aren’t there yet, I am pleased with what he has done with (re)building the farm system. I still yearn for the day when a meaningful game can be played in PNC Park. I’ll probably be yearning for a while.

Awesome Post, nice reference to Kirby Puckett. Who do you think the Gmen will take in the draft? I hope they take Pouncy or the LT from Boston.
Agreud. Time to rebuild the offensive line. I however will not be chagrined if they get a linebacker that can do half the stuff Jesse Armstead used to be able to do, never mind LT.
__________
I would be overjoyed if the Giants took a linebacker in the first. They don’t take linebackers in the first though. They haven’t taken one since Banks in 84. If anyone could find someone with Armstead’s talent in the 8th round its Reese.
Grew up in Western PA and distinctly remember going to Pirate games and smelling Pittsburgh before seeing the city. Still a fan. Off to a decent start this year, hope they stick close to 500 baseball and not sell everyone off in July-August like they do every year.
Gint, your friend the GM, tell him that if he trades Andrew McCutchen, I will unleash my personal herd of Chupacabras on his fluffy white ass.
Buying XG right now
Pittsburgh is no longer smelly as it has become largely a banking town. It smells like Bernanke Cabbage.

True dat. Went on a tour of Heinz Field last week. The city and waterfront areas are really beautiful. PNC Park is stunning. Too bad they can’t put asses in seats.

Jake or others, have you got a link or recommended tome which fleshes out the history of the Jacksonian movement and motivations?
Thanks in advance.
“American Lion” by Meachum (sp?) is a very popular piece that really looks at Jackson as a person, but perhaps that’s not as comprehensive as you’d like.
I believe there’s another one that’s a bit more run of the mill… “Life and Times of Andrew Jackson” or something like that.

Thanks. I’m all for pleistocene rewilding both literally and as a political metaphor.
play on “American Lion” for those who missed it. Ugh.

It’s worth noting that AG is at it’s 50-week MA, in addition AG has launched from current levels a couple of times in the last few months. I’d scale in partial position here 🙂
I grabbed some.

Is the glint of platinum growing more glinty in the eyes of JPMorgan? I might go get some of that stuff as well if it is becoming more prominent as a precious.
Are ther any platinum, focused miners?

It’s very tempting to add more PM’s here with the continued dollar drop. We may be already starting the runaway move. but for now I’ll err on the cautious side with 75% of the port in the PM’s.
I’m sitting in LAX and they just paged passenger, “Michael Piker.”
Fucking pikers.
Thanks for the picks Jake, any revision on your entry points?
I didn’t get any of ’em, but I did buy a little bit more AAU today and some more XG as well.
______
Bought GPL at 3.25 yesterday, AG at day’s lows. Tried grabbing the July 22.50 calls but the b/a spread was ridiculous.
Do you have a target for AG? Just curious. I’m just riding the wave.
My father says it’s sometimes better to be lucky than smart.
I forget who said something like, when I work 16hrs a day; I get lucky.
It seems that I got lucky with the timing of some AG & WNR buys this morning. Time will tell.
