True story: A number of years ago, probably around 2001-2002, my father watched a segment on CNBS during which Jim Awad was interviewed. In the segment, he recommended that viewers buy shares in Sunbeam. The stock was trading in the low $20s then. A number of months later, the stock had tanked into the low single digits and Jim Awad was again invited onto CNBS. Of course he wouldn’t have mentioned his horrible Sunbeam call but my father called in and told him that he was in his 80s and he put his entire retirement savings into Sunbeam based on Jim’s previous recommendation. With the stock having tanked, he asked what he should do.
Man, I miss him.
