Gold and silver went absolutely nuts to the upside today, with double digit gains in a number of stocks. Steel went higher, as did refiners. We are at a point where investors are simply piling into these names, based upon the idea that the dollar is a worthless piece of shit. Do not fall into the trap, thinking the dollar is about to collapse. I like commodities. However, I am cautious about chasing tigers. If you don’t catch that fucker by the tail, he will bite your stupid head off.
I sold out of my airlines, fearing there will be no let up in the rise in jet fuel. I like the idea of being long DAL and LCC. However, I needed to exercise some risk management here and book small losses, before they get big.

Maybe the US dollar is slow-motion collapsing. Why wouldn’t it be? The largest financial institutions in the world have publicly declared that they want to see the US dollar go away. Inflation expected due to endless dollar dilution. if the S&P is to carry on to some of the lofty estimates people put out (1450, 1500, dow 14000, all of this), financials will outperform for a period.
since sept/oct of 2009, they have been such laggards, and since April 2010 they have been outright awful in an up market. Many of them are very cheap relative to historical valuations.
I am sorely tempted to just make a massive bet on financials en masse, with massive hedges to accompany them, and go eat about 1,919 sandwiches and enjoy the summer…
