Fly,
Do you think Tokman is saving some HUD or other news for the start of the show (CES)?
Alex Tokman reads IBC, just as Ducati writes a piece on MVIS.
Also opens garage doors and lights your cheroot.
Hey MVISer, that sounds like a “should I dump it now” question. Shut the fuck up, non-believer.
still a long way to go with MVIS, fly…
As much as the device kicks ass, do we trust management’s ability to effectively manage the stock during this tricky transition year? jury is out on that. Love the product and the promise, but the emotions behind that aside… i feel this stock price will still move slow until we’ve got more definitive and measurable fundamentals. I’m going to hold most of my large position, but i am going to be cautious… so as not to relive Tokman’s expert investor relations of 2007. BUT, if they can start managing the stock as well as they seem to be managing the company, that will be my ‘add’ signal. Basically, we need a steady stream of info in this information age if we ever expect this company to move this year.
It also vibrates when your table is ready at the Olive Garden.
Phat,
All we really need is OEM PRODUCTION contracts. And we get that from CES. Simple really. When that happens..watch out.
Happy New Year folks.
the Olive Garden is McDonalds in disguise.
who the fuck wants to be buzzed-while-they-wait there?!
The idea is to always have your table waiting for you when you arrive at any good restaurant. I don’t wait. Waiting is only for the unambitious and MVIS investors.
Who the fuck designed that dull charcoal black form factor? Couldn’t they come up with something slightly more appealing? Did they sleep through the I-phone buzz?
I’ve made turds that look more exciting than that.
yoka…
MVIS is mired in secrecy when it comes to OEM deals because the won’t do an exclusive deal (which is good) but also because they’re navigating a highly competitive industry where the competition is all completely paranoid of each other. If announcements come, they’ll likely be sketchy and with unnamed companies. This is the history of this stock. You won’t know much probably until it’s ready to go (ala APPL.) Tough to trade any stock under these conditions.
The Fly wins again. He may mimic the Chicago Cubs though if he continues his bearshittin ways.
i guess this is my designated ‘discuss MVIS’ day.
Humper…
the form factor is fine. unlike iphone which is a self contained and interractive device, the MVIS device just needs to sit there and be functional, minimal, non-obnoxious, and un-intrusive. yes, we want it to look good, but no one will be staring at the device… they be staring at the 60 or 70 inch projection. (duh) The win is in the actual projection.
Looks like the new Zune radar detector.
manage the stock? sell now if that’s what you want. That is patently ridiculous. manage the COMPANY. The stock will follow. How do you ‘manage a stock’? Put out a bunch of stupid useless PRs?
Going on road shows is the best you can do–and that what they do.
meanwhile, youve got to have your head examined if you dont think a ONE HUNDRED inch screen in almost hd resolution projected from that thing for 2 and a half hours is pretty fucking amazing. TI dreams of it.
It also signifies power requirements are pretty damn close for embedded.
right on schedule. Tokman is doing a fantastic job. go ahead and sell for a double. ill be here for a 50 bagger,
Phatfridy:
If they are targeting consumers, it’s gotta be sleak, shiny and appealing to confer status. Big swing and a miss.
“Texas Instruments has been privately showing a cell-phone-sized prototype of its digital-light projector (DLP), which uses a MEMS chip with a million micro-mirrors to project images. Unfortunately, the company claims it cannot produce its MEMS chips cheaply enough for cell phone makers to use. Now, Microvision claims to have achieved that goal by replacing TI’s million-mirror MEMS chip with its own single-mirror MEMS chip, which Microvision claims can be produced cheaply enough to become standard equipment on future cell phones.”
“Our MEMS chip is fundamentally different [from TI’s DLP],” said Russell Hannigan, senior product marketing manager at Microvision. “TI’s DLP dedicates a separate mirror to each pixel, requiring a million micro-mirrors for a million-pixel display. Instead, we use a single mirror to create all the pixels–enabling our device to be much, much smaller and less expensive.”

To make this thing more appealing to consumers, MVIS needs to offer the SHOW in different colors like orange, lime, pink, raspberry, etc.
Off to eat another bowl of rainbow sherbet.
cigars…
yes, manage the company… but they MUST also manage the stock. both are absolutely essential. MVIS went silent and look what happened… total distrust of management. They may be able to project a 1000 inch screen from my middle finger but my middle finger needs time to get adjusted… it needs to be walked through the process. investor relations is an essential part of building a company. Sometimes the idea alone just isn’t enough.
I hold a large position in MVIS. A core position i will hold long. But i have a trading position too. I love the company. But i am also being cautious in the short term. And another reality… when production ramps up, it is likely they will do another stock offering. Bet on it.
I think the device is great. GREAT. LOVE IT. HUGE. But there will be growing pains and price swings this year. And lots of opportunity for missteps. Owning this stock means knowing the big picture both positive and negative, and not being too emotional one way or the other. Anyone who got emotional and bought more at the highs this last year, lost 30%.
And remember… these are engineers at MVIS, not design artists. Tokman is doing an excellent job of keeping the company lean and mean. Let their partners come in and help evolve the design. The lime and pink devices will come in time….
Cigars–
….since they are burning cash, although they seem to have decent control on the rate, won’t they have to “manage the stock” in an upward direction in order to issue more shares at some point?…unless they have other means to raise capital…..also, seems to me, if the product is a screaming success, and if they have patent protection, a larger fish would want to buy them, thus killing a 50 to 1 shot (but I hope you are right!)…
Sure. I have no problem with trading around a core position. I think its a mistake to sell it all and never look back. At just a few million sold MVIS stock is multiple times higher. I really dont care if we go to 10 and then lkose another buck or two in a PR vaccuum.
And I dont think it is likely that we get months without PRs now anyway. Too mcuh will be happening at upcoming shows and the mfr ramp will have to begin in a few months.
swing and a miss? dont be a jerkoff. it’s an advanced prototype. I’m sure theyll be available to match all the colors of the rainbow sticker you have slapped on your bumper.
Cigars… agreed.
BUT, did they not learn anything from this last radio silence?!
‘Too much happening’ is EXACTLY the reason we need PR. As in investor, I want to be informed, even if it is just a headline. The company needs to manage the flow of information… it says a lot to investors when a growing company is open. I’m smart enough to know a bullshit headline from a substantial one… but when I hear nothing, especially from a company that has not released a product yet, my trust wanes. that’s a fact. nature of life. If your wife stopped talking to you for 6 months, let’s face it… there’s a good likelihood you’ll be fucked.
SBUX to $12
SBUX is overrated, their coffee is sub-par, yet expensive. Quite an oddity, no?
New Year’s resolution: Stop paying $4 for a cup of coffee.
I drink my coffee black. SBUX “girl coffee” is for pussies and gay men.
How come MVIS always releases major news on a day when the markets take a blow to the throat?
It never fails! Look what happened to the markets after their July announcement!!!
You guys really think MVIS can hold in the face of general market homo hammer of death? I sold out of MVIS a while ago, but I’d be selling into the pop today.
Y’all know more about the stock than me, but just some food for thought.
Short SBUX. When it comes to a choice of $4 for gas or $4 for coffee… gas wins. Then go long on liquor… because people drink to forget in a recession. No one wants to be wired up on caffeine when they can’t afford to buy anything.
Woodshedder… nothing puts the chokehold on timing and stupidity like a MVIS press release.
note: black coffee rules. i make my own.
SBUX can kiss my self-reliant ass.
Shedder of Wood,
Confusing reality you are with emotional ties to the stock. Watch “The Matrix”, and figure out you will what is going on with MVIS.
this has nothing to do with MVIS today, but when they start marketing augmented reality eyewear… this technology applies in a huge way:

I drink coffee directly from the pot of Juan Valdez.
juan valdez stands too close to that donkey. fuck that. it’s an unnatural relationship.
Yoda, you are an idiot if think you that I serious was about announcements of MVIS affecting markets. An observation it was.
And you can fuck yourself with your emotional ties. I’m still up 20% on the name, at $4.00
The force is strong with Woodshedder.
Shedder of Wood has gone to the Dark Side. Fail he will to make profits this year. His feelings him will betray. Himself, will he fuck.
LOL. You’re an ass, Yoda, but that was funny.
Actually, I’m up almost 2% today. We’ll see if it holds.
Shedder of Wood,
Glad I am that you a sense of humor have.
I have not the way of Mr. LIMM gone, by “R” for “L” replacing, although funny that would be.
Buy HES on this pullback. Peak earnings it shall not see until 2012. Many projects to be exploited have they for deepwater drilling.
MVIS is getting a lot of product buzz on the gizmo gadgets blogs.
http://preview.tinyurl.com/2rn8ej
Also made it to http://www.engadget.com/
22 diggs there.
I sure hope MVIS makes it to $4.50 by the end of the week. We need more gamers to jump on the bandwagon along with Tokman and buy stock.
if MVIS makes it through CES with positives, i think we could hit $5. I think the likelihood of the market tanking further over the next few months may even help MVIS… not an abundance of growth stories out there, and if MVIS gets solid institutional interest, it could finally hold onto that price level… and grow as they further build towards known milestones. But if they go silent again, my pin-the-tail-on-the-tokman-donkey game board will take a lot of bloody shots in the ass.
A lot of “ifs” there, phatty.
I would rather own SBUX than MVIS. At least I’d profit in knowing that I was getting ripped off by a $4 coffee, instead of not knowing that I was getting ripped of by a $4 stock, whose patents will be infringed with no recourse.
“I’d profit in knowing i was getting ripped off”
classic.
tell that to a mugger or an former enron executive.
the internet fucking amazes me. i am having fun mingling today with the clueless. i feel like i have infringed on stupidity patents.
“Himself, he will fuck.”
Now that’s fucking comedy.
Shed — I’m going to be closing a lot of puts today… tomorrow’s an 80% historic upper.
What happened to JakeGrinch?
More importantly, is Ducati “yeomps”?
Is Fly really “Mr. Bilderberg’s Personal Attendant”?
And what of Bilderberg? Is he actually the Fly’s alter ego?
I deduce that there are only 17 people who read this blog. Four of them are the bloggers (and their aliases) and then you PG readers.
Good point, I’d like to know how many aliases Jake is holding down.
Yoda is Chuck Bennet after he drinks a 6-pack of Pabst’s BR.
I am who I really am?
Who am I? Why am I here? What is my purpose in life?
This blog is full of mystery and suspense. I love it.
I am flattered that you would think I am as eloquent as Ducati.
Aha! Now I know you are yeomps, Ducati! Yeomps, you are deviously complementing Ducati! (did that even make any sense?)
Jake, I covered my GES short today.
How you likin’ the action in SLW today Jake? Good stuff.
Yeomps is just an anagram for Ducati’s grammar school nickname “Poemsy.”
JakeGrinch has been retired until next year’s Bear-y Christmas.
I only have two other nom de Drosphilablogues, not counting “Bilderberg’s Footman” which I only used once before it was viciously ripped off from me by criminal intellectual property thieves.
They are both furreners of differing Asiatic pedigree.
I foolishly covered GES on Monday.
I’m very happy with SLW, since I grabbed a bunch of March 15’s at $2.90 on Monday.
Whoopee!
The above exclamation is heartfelt, as it’s a rare occasion that I buy on the low of anything, even if it be a two day low…
