Brown Shoe (BWS) and DSW are spiking higher today after earnings, and looking at other plays in the retail shoe space I am reminded of the great shoe salesman Al Bundy, for some odd reason. In addition to DECK FINL FL SCVL SHOO, which are decent but not great setups here, I am looking at CROX and SKX, below, as two of the more intriguing plays with strong charts in the space headed into the summer. The group is showing good relative strength to the market today, beyond the two earnings stocks mentioned.
That said, we likely need to see at least a rangebound broad market in order for them to flourish, since most stocks tend to move in conjunction with the tape.
