Six Dead, Eight Injured In Quebec City Mosque Shooting – Suspects of Arab and Quebec Origin Reported In Custody

A horrific scene unfolded in a Quebec mosque Sunday around 8pm local time when gunmen, suspected to be of Quebec and Arab origin, opened fire on a congregation of between 60 and 100 people during evening prayer ceremonies while yelling “Allahu Akbar.” Six have been killed and eight wounded at last count. The shooting comes a day after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced that Canada would take refugees banned by Donald Trump’s Executive Order.

Two suspects are in custody, however police have declined to identify them due to “strategic and operational reasons.” TVA Nouvelles reports, however, that the suspects are of Arab and Quebec origin (original source in French).

An eyewitness reported to CBS:

“It seemed to me that they had a Quebecois accent. They started to fire, and as they shot they yelled, ‘Allahu akbar!’ The bullets hit people that were praying. People who were praying lost their lives. A bullet passed right over my head,” said the witness. –CBS News

One of the stranded travelers was Iraqi interpreter Hameed Khalid Darweesh, released from detention after 18 hours. Reps. Velazquez and Nadler were quick to cozy up to Darweesh, hoping to milk the “human element” of this tragic story of injustice.

The orders would likely be enacted via a combination of restricting travel for current visa holders and halting new visa issuance. Of course, Reuters’ starts off with the most Trump-damaging angle, pointing out that this would “temporarily restrict access to the United States for most refugees (who are not men of fighting age, I’m sure Reuters promises).” The article also fails to mention that this list of countries are filled with angry people who want Americans dead, and who seek to infiltrate and convert the local population and convince them to commit [NSFW] heinous acts against people who believe in a different God (and then sue for $25k when someone knocks their teeth out in jail).  I recommend these countries fix their shit.
