It looks like #Irma is scraping along Cuba, slowing it down and pitching it up the west coast of Florida for an early Monday hit just south of Tampa.

Delayed landfall S of Tampa Bay would subject entire FL peninsula to potential hurricane force winds. Gusts considerably more

Meanwhile, you can check out a (currently) live cam from Duval street in Key West. It’s interesting to watch the random interloper walking or biking around in the jaws of death.

Yes from a search of records, Tampa, hit numerous times by hurricanes in past years, is long overdue – last hit there was 1970, I believe.
What this demonstrates is that the evolution of major, life-threatening weather events is completely non-deterministic. If one cannot predict short term weather, then how can one reliably predict long term global meteorological conditions (otherwise known as climate change).
Because it’s profitable and fits nicely with so many political narratives.
those random interlopers walking or biking around empty streets have the correct outlook on the whole situation….dont worry, be happy.

Oh look, it just so happens to take the path of maximum possible destruction, just like Harvey. Who knew? Just the latest example of weather warfare. Look for the document, “Weather as a Force Multiplier: Owning the Weather by 2025”, by the US air force.

Oops. Everybody from Miami just skedaddled to Tampa/Orlando for safety. Now they’ll have to sprint back to Miami. Forget the hurricane, worried now that Florida will tip over like Guam with all this commotion – it’s gonna get wobbly.
At this very moment Florida is a cat burglars dream.
