Krauthammer Issues Stark Warning Over Mueller Investigation: “We Should Be Treading Very Carefully Here”

Fox News contributor Charles Krauthammer issued a stark warning to America last night in an interview with Tucker Carlson, calling the idea of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s witch hunt and the slow march towards impeachment “a catastrophic mistake.”

In an earlier Fox segment, Krauthammer responded to news that Mueller had impaneled a grand jury for the investigation, saying “Tonight’s news is not just a threat to Trump and his entourage but it is [a threat] to constitutional stability.”

He later told Carlson, “The danger here, the pity here is that we’re still discussing the legitimacy of an election of a president, 6 months in. That is never healthy for a democracy,” Krauthammer added “This has never happened to us, and that’s why I hope people would tread carefully.”

Power to the people

During yesterday’s rally in West Virginia – the state won by the largest margin – President Trump gave a particularly rousing speech, painting a picture of corrupt, Russophobic D.C. politicians trying to invalidate a fair election, rendering their votes meaningless. Trump told the crowd “We didn’t win becaues of Russia. We won because of you.”

Krauthammer’s take was that Trump’s packed rally was a reminder to the establishment that true power lies with the citizenry. “I think that the appearance that he did in W. VA tonight is a way of saying “my numbers may be down, but I command a formidable army,” adding “I think we should be treading very carefully here. This is where we are. We’re sort of sleepwalking into this.

Tucker: From the very first day, people were saying we’re gonna take him out, now this investigation looks like it has the potential to do that. If that were to happen, some of these voters might conclude that they’re not really allowed to pick their own President.

Krauthammer: That’s why I think we’re really headed into really choppy and dangerous constitutional waters. We know what the Democrats want to do, they want to get control of the House, and on day one they’re going to start impeachment.

In July, up to 25 House Democrats reportedly began working on a bill to start impeachment proceedings against Trump – though the proposal has yet to be sponsored.

 Mueller Time

While discussing the Robert Mueller’s deep-dive investigation into whether or not the Trump team colluded with Russia, Krauthammer reminded viewers that any investigation needs to start with evidence of an actual crime.

Now, I happen to think, as you know I opposed the Trump candidacy. I don’t think he’s very well fit for the presidency. But fitness is not a reason for impeachment and removal. High crimes are. Here we have a prosecutor looking for high crimes.

With Watergate you started with a crime and then you tried to find out how it happened. Here, they’re looking for a crime, perhaps they’ll find one – I don’t know. Collusion is unseemly but it ain’t a crime.

This is an investigation in search of a crime. Show me the crime, I’m open to empirical evidence. If they show it, I’ll be open to say well maybe this ought to be prosecuted. But as of now, it is something that’s closing in, and it is very dangerous. Charles Krauthammer

Krauthammer is absolutely right. The Mueller investigation was based on the flimsy Comey memo, much like the Russian interference probes in the House and Senate are largely based on a largely discredited report.

As Trump loyalists are purged by Natl. Security Advisor H.R. McMaster, and General John Kelly insulates the President – much like Nixon’s final weeks, one can’t help but wonder if we are truly living in a banana republic if a democratically elected President can be removed from office simply because the establishment doesn’t like him.

I still believe Trump should start with Rosenstein. He is the enabler appointed at the recommendation of Priebus. It should also be possible for Sessions to narrow the basis of his recusal and therefore the need for Special Council.

But if Congress denies Trump his authority under the Constitution to sack Mueller, which I am now convinced he must exercise, then a real Constitutional crisis will erupt. This has now become a matter of Constitutional priority.

    It’s Counsel not Council.

The dude has a 33% approval rating.. More than 60% want Mueller to remain… let him do his job.

Clearly the Trump Organized Crime Family is hiding something. Explain why the Don Jr. meeting with the Russian lawyer was first described as having to do with adoptions? Why did Kushner forget again and again about his meetings with Russian businessmen and officials? That doesn’t raise Red Flags? Don’t be a cuckpot chump.

TC Think about it. A duly elected President being deposed by Congressional coup. You may not like him or support him, but this sets a precedent that will destabilize the US government forever. It is truly Banana Republic territory. I am convinced now that Trump must fire Mueller, if for no other reason that to assert his powers under the Constitution. Otherwise the same thing will happen to the next President. It will be a never ending cycle.

Doubtful. The left now owns eternal control. They have shown they are crazy enough and corrupt enough to brazenly push the envelope where the Conservatives have always played the gentleman’s game and stayed within the rule book. Now that Conservatives have capitulated to the left, it’s game over for good. All of this craziness we have been watching have told us the Democrat party is now doomed or dead but the same can be said for the spineless Republicans. Screw them all. Trump has forced all of them to show their true colors. Two sides of the same coin. Hang each and every one of them.

The most important issue is: Do we continue warmongering against Russia as we have been doing since the Clinton administration?

Trump apparently thought that having friendly relations was a good idea. Maybe someone advised him that having Russia concerned about our increasing capability to launch a first strike was could cause Russia to become paranoid about some Strangeloveian intent on our part. Or maybe he just thought trading and being friendly was better for both peoples.

But no worries TC, it appears that your warmongers and Trump may have struck a deal. I won’t be surprised if we see the special counsel (please check my spelling) thing die down over the next weeks.

The Special Counsel was appointed by the Justice Department, not Congress. Not sure what you mean by a Congressional coup. Circumstances certainly warrant an investigation. Not saying Trump committed any illegal acts, but those around him certainly are acting very suspicious.

Were you outraged when Trump said he would jail his political opponent during the campaign?

I’m not concerned about his policies as much as his character. Guy is a serial liar and incapable of running the country. Just wait until those surrounding him write their memoirs.

The missing piece here is that this may not be first and foremost about Trump at all. The financial system is on the brink of collapse, simply on its own. I would not put it past the usual synagogue suspects in bankstaristan trying to foment constitutional crisis and upheaval so they can bring in and institute martial law, clamp down on the population and collapse the system at their leisure and no consequences from the masses that will lose their savings and investments. TC The US Congress is introducing bills to block President Trump’s ability to fire Mueller. This violates the Separation of Powers that forms a basis of the US Constitution. By doing this, the Congress will be giving Mueller more power than the duly elected President. That would effectively be a Congressional coup.

I firmly believe that Trump should fire Mueller simply for this reason and risk triggering a Constitutional crisis. The Presidency has this power, and must exercise it or forever lose it. The American people need to know where they stand – does their vote count and do their elected officials follow their oath to the constitution.

If Trump waits too late to flush out the traitors in Congress, it will be too late to organize candidates to replace them in the 2018 mid-terms. They must be removed.

The Congress doesn’t have much choice when the President publicly announces the possibility of pardoning anyone convicted of crimes related to his campaign and election. That’s a shout out to those Mueller is investigating to lie and coverup? His oath was to uphold the law.. not obstruct justice.
