A new Twitch channel created by Amazon engineer Mike Roberts allows participants to buy and sell stocks with his money, in what Roberts describes as the “first co-op multiplayer game in the world in which real money is involved to play the stock market.”
StockStream Live is a group chat stock market ‘game’ with an 8-bit 90’s gaming style user interface set to party tunes. A stock ticker graces the top of the Twitch feed, while news and current events are displayed below.
Trading starts at 9 a.m. EST, and users can vote on new stocks to buy every five minutes in an account Roberts funded with $50,000 and hooked up to the Robinhood trading platform. Users with winning picks are eligible to earn ‘points,’ for prizes which Roberts intends to roll out down the road.
Hundreds of thousands of people have tuned in to watch Roberts’ savings rise and fall.

How do I play?
Visit the Stock Stream Twitch channel and see the HowTo below the video.
What stocks can be bought or sold?
Everything on Robinhood except for a few restrictions due to volatility or FINRA/SEC regulations.

This stream will run every day, while market is open. If the account value falls below $25,000, trading halts, and the game is over. In the future prizes may be offered to players with high scores.

Very cool
OA–what is OA Jr. up to for the summer?
Seems like a natural fit for him!
It’s only a matter of time before someone hacks it and places that account into negative equity.
Again, a topping signal. How would this work in a BEAR market even for a month? We haven’t seen such in a while and complacency is everywhere. The risk is unknown to folks right now.
Long positions only?
Very nice online game and psychology experiment.
