The Cup With Handle Screen Returns

Look, I know, its been a long time since I’ve posted any Cup with Handles. Truth be told, if I’m not trading a particular system, I tend not to update the signals daily, and then I forget about it and don’t post about it for about 4 months or so…So that is what has happened with the CwH screen. I will, from here on out, endeavor to run this screen nightly, and post any picks from the screen.

The CwH screen has produced picks which have backtested extraordinarily well since early 2009. But then again, the market has pretty much moved straight up over this period. We would expect breakouts to work well, and they have. But no matter how I run this system, it handily beats a buy and hold of [[SPY]] , over the same time period.

Tonight’s pick is Texas Capital Bancshares, Inc. [[TCBI]]

cwh-tcbi

In backtesting, a sell signal is generated on a close above the left cup, which for TCBI equals $17.98

Keep in mind, you might hold this pick for a LONG time waiting for the left cup sell target to be hit. And that is what the problem usually is when trading breakouts: they work very well until the market hits a downtrend, and they tend to fail, miserably. Perhaps this could be mitigated with a moving average filter. Who knows… I will have to tinker with this more in the near future.

This is the best of those produced I take it … how many turned up?

Do you ever scan for lunkers off the bottom using three white soldiers or morning/doji star candles and if so what have your results been?

    Regards

Teahouse, this was the only stock returned by the screen.

I have never scanned for candlestick patterns, but I could, fairly easily. Well, maybe one time I scanned for morning stars. I’ll try that out in the future and report back.

Just got a 27″ iMac tgats incredible. Not sure if it will run your software but I love it for trading. Only need the one monitor but have the potential for more. It’ll cost you about $1700 or so.

I am looing t buy a new PC and looking for advice. Need one for trading and running AmiBroker where I run large compoisite files that currently crashes my Dell Core 2 laptop. I want a multi monitor system as well. I looked at Falcon trading computers but they seem expensive. Any other ideas? Desktop or laptop?

Ha! I have the 27″ Imac at home already. I need a stupid PC machine since the business world is still run by well PC’s. I think I am going with Falcon Trading Computer. Little overpriced but they do a nice job on multiple monitor systems.

Johnny, it is really easy to order the components and build your own computer. LIke really easy. Probably a few hours of research, and then maybe another few hours to build it. The hardest part is loading the operating system.

Falcon’s look overpriced for what you get. Old Nvidia graphics cards, (an 8400, are you kidding me! ), slow processors, a Core2 Duo E7500, (ancient) (and it’s overclocked, with the issues that go with doing that).

You certainly won’t be doing much gaming (with advanced graphics) during lunchtime.

You can do better. Try here instead…http://ecollegepc.com/

and customize your own. I have an old Nvidia 8800GT and it runs two monitors off of this one graphics card. Add a second card in your PC and you can run two more monitors. Might have to beef up the power supply though.

I trade full time. I used to have Esignal but canceled it and use Power E-trade Pro now. I’m an intermediate term trader so it suits my needs.

We might not be talking the same Falcon. Try this Falcon.

I am looking at the F-20, Full system with I7 processor and 3 22″ monitors will run me about $3,500. I’ll check into the link you have above.

Wood had a good suggestion to build my own but I have zero time in the next few months. I’ll have to sacrifice money for time.

I priced the F-20 versus a very similar config at ecollegepc. Falcon price was $2,620. ecollege price was $1,725.

No contest.. Falcon is vastly overpriced. ecollegepc consistently gets good reviews. Even with the F20, Falcon is still using very slow graphics cards. even the cheapest graphics card option at ecollege was faster than the card they are using in the F20. Pathetic.
