I may hold the World Record for documented hemp consumption.

My original motivation was to eliminate soy from my diet, yet still consume a plant based protein as part of my overall eating plan. Soy, as it turns out, may not be so good for you. After doing quite a bit of research, hemp seemed like the best alternative.

So, after three years, can I perceive a difference?

Yes…. but an unexpected one. Allergies, sinus infections & colds were not experienced after making the change to hemp. Now I did come down with the flu this past winter, so it isn’t bulletproof, but my immune system seems to have improved tremendously.

Here’s an article that may explain how this is happening. Skip down to the title “Hemp Seed Protein And The Building Blocks Of Life And Immunity”.

In giving a little more credence to the above, the Independent ran a story earlier this month about the Chinese and their pursuit of medical marijuana patents. This line stood out to me:

Many of the Chinese patents are for herbal treatments. One, filed by the Yunan Industrial Cannabis Sativa Co, refers to an application made from whole cannabis sativa seeds to make “functional food” designed to improve the human immune system.

Ultimately, the big question is how do we make money from this? Right now, that’s a tough one, but it’s likely we’ll see some hemp-heavy Chinese Burritos that might be fun to ride in the future.

  1. Sandwich, I’m uninformed about the non-denatured whey. Will read up on it for sure. Thanks for the reply. Would love to hear back on how the Bob’s Red Mill works out for you. As far as the 50 lbs? Lol! I’m sure consistency rules over quantity… 😉

  2. I currently use whey protein that is bioactive and made from non-denatured proteins. Traditional whey and soy proteins give me heartburn or I would find it hard not to crap my pants. I also haven’t touched soy in years because most of it is straight poison. I’ve shied away from hemp protein because hemp milks give me bad stomach cramps – but so do all non-dairy milks so it’s probably not the hemp at all. I trust Bob’s products so I’m going try this hemp protein out. I don’t know if I could do 50 lbs a year though. Lol

  3. Raul, you are wise beyond your years on this earth, young man. Obviously, ‘the machine’ is well maintained… (and unstoppable)

  4. i’ve been taking the hemp for years too, in my shakes. excellent source of omega 6
