I work on modeling the real optionality of power systems to assist in commodity purchase/hedging and CAPEX decisions. We hedge ~$0.75bn in commodities annually and manage an overall portfolio of ~$10bn (not including physical assets) over a horizon of 2-10 years.

Actually his loss was in the 1990’s. The Kobe earthquake of 1994 was the catalyst that de-cocked the boy wonder and put Barings in bankruptcy.
