While analysts spend the balance of July furiously pouring over earnings reports to adjust their outlooks and by extension, revise market target prices, Jack Ablin of Harris Private Bank is playing it cool. Ironically some of what makes him so calm is the unknowable nature of current events like the government’s handling of the fiscal cliff, the economies of Europe and China, and the assorted scandals both known and yet to be revealed. He could be convinced of almost any possible scenario; that being the case he turns back to the fundamentals.
