I have posted a weekly chart of GLD below. Note that it has clearly broken the uptrend line. The problem is, maybe everyone has already taken note of that. Right now the Hulbert Gold Newsletter Sentiment Index is at 0.3%. This means that the average gold timer has essentially no position in the metal. Combining the sentiment index with the fact that everybody has been screaming today about how weak the metal has been, I wouldn’t be surprised to see a significant rally in gold from here. Might be worth it to put your whiskey mouth all over this golden south.

Does Your Daughter Have a Real Short Skirt They Want to Look Up?

I live in a wealthy town in a wealthy county. I went to an open house hosted by the local public high school, considered one of the best in the nation, whether public or private. My older son, who has been attending a certain private school his entire academic life,  is applying to private high schools, but we were eager to to find out more about the local public school. Until tonight. Why do upper middle class parents allow their young teenage children dress up like whores and gangstas? Don’t leave a comment.

You probably know the NFLX story by now, so I won’t go into the details of why the stock has been sledgehammered over the past several weeks. What recently caught my eye about the chart was the divergence between price and MACD. The daily chart is posted below. You will see a similar divergence using Wilder’s RSI – 14. The stock is up about 6.5% as I write this on a day when the general market is down around. 1.7%. When I went sniffing around for possible news for the rise in the stock, I found a rumor that Verizon may be buying Netflix. Don’t trade on rumors, of course.

CRM. A weekly chart is posted below. I don’t think I am anywhere within the general vicinity of the hosts of 12631 or the Fly when it comes to influencing people to take a trade just because I happen to pull up a chart. It has not escaped my attention, however, no matter how busy I have been with issues outside the market, that interest in shorting CRM has come into vogue shortly after I posted a chart on that stock. Or maybe I am thinking too highly of myself. Anyway, please remember what lines and trends are all about. Entries and exits. Some exits are profitable, some exits are stop-losses. Aside from dishing out my personal soap opera just to win a T-shirt, my CRM post has been bothering me the most. I still think the chart looks bad, but what should have been resistance failed. If it makes a new lower low, then, hmmm.

Here is the daily chart of SPY, with lines that should look familiar to some of you who have read a couple of my posts. Is this a Herman Cain pattern? You know, where the head is pulled back down to the lap-line after the initial objection? Will it spurt from here? Will it get over the higher line and finally find love in the house?

Paying For Schooling Is Good For You

The past couple of weeks and the next several weeks have been and will be busy for me. All the ridiculous interviews I have been going to just to get my son into high school have been, well, ridiculous. The admissions directors, to their credit, knew everything about us (my wife and I) and my child before the interview, yet they ask the most obvious questions. How is the academics going? Extracurricular activities? Won Wimbledon yet? OK, yes and no.

Then there is one gauche bag (inspiration from Fly) who asks what we think our son will want to major in in college. Excuse me? Let him have a freaking fucked up teen life before he decides how he wants to spend the rest of life, OK? To be fair, he was the only gauche bag. All other admissions officers were people I wanted to hire to tutor my children.

Anyway, this experience got me thinking of NNI. Need money for education? They will be happy to help to “process” it for you. The first chart below is the daily chart. Looking a bit extended? Yes, but education has long term benefits. Look at the second chart, which is a weekly one. If you understood as you were growing up that education is a long term benefit, look on your own at the monthly chart.
