Sold AXPW (+13%) and BRD (+25%)

This morning I cashed in on a couple of stocks. Naturally I’m not selling my losers yet, because ‘I believe’. Eventually I will get tired of losing money on stocks and become a 100% bond investor. When I do that, the powers that be will implement HFT in the bond market. This will force me to abandon all paper/electronic assets. But until then:

If you look at the weekly chart of AXPW, it looks like a hold. I might be able to buy it back cheaper, or forget about it and buy something else.

BRD is a tiny gold miner with a bright future, I think. I will watch this one and hope to buy it back at a lower price after the gold price drops again. I think it will drop because I kept reading predictions of higher gold prices recently. Well, what do you expect from an armadillo?

Bought Rotech Healthcare Bond CUSIP 778669AH4

Yesterday I purchased a junk bond CUSIP 778669AH4 ROTECH HEALTHCARE INC 10.50000% 03/15/2018 SR SEC NT for $60.50 per $100 face value which will yield over 23% if this healthcare provider, which relies on Mediscare payments for over 60% of its revenue, survives the consolidation/purging in its market niche (home medical equipment and supplies esp. respiratory) and Mediscare reform.

Bought Wendy’s (WEN)

My favorite fast food is Wendy’s value menu Chili and Caesar Salad! One of my favorite tweeters is vcutrader! I bought some WEN today (probably at the wrong time and price, but ….) :

Bought AXPW

Today I purchased a few shares of AXION POWER INTERNATIONAL INC (AXPW), a company researching and developing and patenting and licensing and producing technology that makes lead acid batteries last longer (doubles the life span or something like that). Below are the charts:

Bought ROSG and IMUC

Biotechs are doing well recently, so I bought two this a.m.: Rosetta Genomics (ROSG @ 6.57) and Immunocellular Therapeutics (IMUC @ 3.04). ROSG has a very large short float while IMUC has a modest one. I have no idea how they are really doing as businesses and consider these purchases highly speculative. Hopefully these will get caught in a short squeeze some time in the future. Biotechs tend to self-destruct after I buy them, however.

Bought Verso Paper (VRS) Bond CUSIP 92531XAF9

Today I bought a position (5%) in VERSO PAPER HLDGS LLC / VERSO 11.37500% 08/01/2016SR SB which will yield a little over 27% (due to its low market price below its face value). If folks keep buying products made with coated paper, I will make money. I can’t get a bond chart today, so below is the stock chart.

Sold VXX (-19%) and EEV (-6%) hedges

After the US Federal Reserve announcement today, I decided to eat my losses in VXX and EEV. Fortunately my junk bonds have been increasing in value more than the decreases in VXX and EEV.

Bought Momentive Performance Materials Bond CUSIP 60877UAM9

Momentive is one of the world’s largest producers of silicones and silicone derivatives and is a global leader in the development and manufacture of products derived from quartz and specialty ceramics. It is the spin-off of what was once called GE Advanced Materials. I hope it continues in business and does not jeopardize the 27% yield of this bond (not to mention the principal).
