Trying to Make it In SF

I’m not bitching, nor bragging, when I talk about real estate in SF. I’m merely trying to paint a picture of my reality. Frankly,at this date and time, because of my lady’s family, her job, and rent control, it doesn’t make sense for us to move anywhere. Thus, being a paratrooper, I have to figure out a way to win with what I have. I won’t be around much tomorrow, as I will be founding two new businesses. One finance related, and the other a tech start-up.

I’m not trying to build a Sales Force or Microsoft, all I’m merely trying to do is build a company that provides a valuable service in tech, mostly focusing on information systems and productivity for businesses, whether it be data management, supply chain efficiency, etc. that I can sell for a large sum of money. I’m constantly asking my friends in the tech world, sales guys, medical coders, software engineers, and what have you, “What would make your job easier?”

I’ve got a number of ideas– that I am most definitely –not going to share with you heathens. With the internet, and the huge tech bubble going on here currently, it’s pretty easy to come up with capital. FAR, FAR, FAR, easier than coming up with investment capital for a any kind of equity or hedge fund. People here hate despise highly doubt money managers. On the same level– if not worse –are VC’s. Not to be confused with this guy, but there do seem to be a generous amount of VC scumbags.

I was out working on some business ideas on Saturday with some of my friends in tech, when I came across a young resident, a friend of a friend. A man who has spent much of his life in medical school. He was very upset about the taxes that he is paying, especially while paying back all of his student loans, but supports universal healthcare. I– looking for common ground –asked him if he had seen the cover of USA today, with the main story being about the things surgeons leave behind during surgery.

He got rather defensive about it, as he wants to be a trauma surgeon. I tried to mend ties by saying that I had done a tiny bit of research on a company that had created gauze that could be absorbed and secreted by the body. This just seemed to make him more hostile, as if all I had was dollars signs in my eyes.

To be honest, I kind of do, but at the same time, it’s because I want to make a place for my family. I don’t want to go live somewhere and settle for some salary, hoping I can contribute enough to my 401k so that I can send my kids to college. WRONG, I want to buy a house IN San Francisco  WHERE we want, and be able to live comfortably. This is a form of “Natural Selection,” where the strong find a way to flourish, no matter the conditions.

Being a surgeon is one of the noblest of crafts. But, I think I earned my “karma card,” PAL. I went off to fight some stupid war, just to teach some religious fanatics that the gluttonous and lazy assholes could still stomp them out on their home turf. Say what you will about the war, but frankly I don’t care. So, don’t go comparing me to some “blood sucking venture capitalist (his words),” just because I am providing the supply with the demand, in a LEGAL, and ETHICAL manner.

I’m gonna run some screens and provide you guys with some trading ideas in a minute. Wait for it.

  1. solid post.

  2. I am 25 an never signed up because I did not want to put my body in front of a gun and some person in Washington that I do not respect and his or her policies. If I get black listed now for the above mentioned then that would really be ironic wouldn’t it. I am curious enough to ask you is; Do you see the service as a job that you do or do you see the service as something else that I can not comprehend?

Also, just thought that SF is ironic for a ex service-family man type so why not TX, or MO (represent). You do know that CA is going to drop into the sea from the weight of it’s own debt.

    • I would be comfortable not being able to vote if the rules were that you have to serve at least 4 to vote.

Currently the rules are you can’t be a felon to vote. Lame.

  3. First, that GG shot is awesome. Secondly, I keep reading all this hate about ‘Venture Capitalists’, as if they’re ‘Vulture Capitalists’. Some circles out there may despise them, but “Shark Tank” is one of the most popular shows on TV! I think the majorities’ perception is quite positive. Rhino, keep putting in the work, good things are going to happen.

  4. […] when Rhino isn’t crushing shorts or derelicts on the streets of San Franicisco, you can best believe he will be throwing egregious amounts of metal around at the gym, or basking […]

  5. I really feel similar homepage enthusiasts may want to check out this type of blog as an example. Pretty clean and uncomplicated layout, not to mention amazing article content! You’re an expert with regard to this important niche 🙂
