It’s that time of year again. It’s time for the 11th annual March Madness Stock Tournament. This is probably my favorite contest of the year; I love seeing how the brackets play out each and every single year.

The 2018 Games begin today. Registration is now open! To enter this tournament, the rules are very simple:
- Place your stock pick in the comment section
- No duplicate picks (time stamp wins out so make sure to do some due diligence in the comment section, or you may lose your spot).
- NO ETFs
- And, stocks must be over $10
The tournament will begin this upcoming Monday, with Friday’s closing price as your starting point.
The tournament will run for six weeks: head to head with a new opponent each week.
The winning percentage for that week will advance to the next round.
Scores will reset each week to make a level playing field.

Interestign rules because the stocks that performs best over the full 6 weeks will most likely lose. High beta stocks overall will be problems because they will very likely underperform in a market-down week – which will likely happen at least once. So many of the overall best 6-weeks stocks will likely be flushed out all together.
At the same time, you can’t go with a boring stock like the ones in the DOW because there will be at least one strong week that small caps outperform, flushing all the big ones at once.
My thinking is a good stock that is less correlated with the overall market, so let’s see what happens.
