Gold ended up being the real winner on the first day of the trading year, with the $GDX outperforming on the day. $ABX seems interesting down here, and so does $SA, but I’m not convinced yet the the underlying metal has bottomed. Any of you guys out there buying $NUGT?
TLT, treasuries, held onto gains for the day, and even TWTR was able to hold green. I actually like the action in Twitter here, along with YELP. UNG, Natural gas, did the opposite and was faded throughout the day. Oil had trouble getting off the mat as well.
As for the portfolio, I am green on the day, which was the primary objective to start the year. $HIMX tried to throw a wrench in my day, but has recovered nicely off the lows. $MOMO did the heavy lifting for me, which wasn’t much, but helped me stay positive to start the year.

I too added to my oil positions today. Lots of Jan Call options. Fish or cut bait over the next 5-8 sessions…
