Welcome to the 6th annual Stock of the year contest hosted by Ragin’ Cajun. For those that are new, it’s simple: pick a stock (no ETFs), and the contestant with the highest percentage score at the end of the year wins.
Prices will start with the closing print of 2012, so all picks must be timestamped before the close on Monday. I will even allow duplicate picks this year, however all entries must be above $5 and no ETFs.
To enter, things will be a little different this year. You must upload the chart of your respective stock pick to chartpin.com, a new service that allows traders to host stock charts. This will make it easier to communicate ideas versus a comment in the comment section.
To do this, you must have a twitter account, so for those over 47.5, you can do so HERE.
If you have a twitter account, then sign in using the sign in button on the top right of the site:
Once logged in, there will be an upload chart button in the same spot, top right:
Upon clicking upload chart, you will then see a screen shot like this:
This is where you upload your chart (image file). Leave your stock symbol in the notes section along with a reason why you like it going into 2013.
You do not have to be a chartist to do this, no trendlines needed, just an image file. However, in the notes section you must use a #hashtag, #stockoftheyear2013 to be entered in the contest.
So here’s a quick recap to enter contest:
1.) Upload chart to chartpin.com (no technical analysis needed)
2.) In the notes section use the #hashtag #stockoftheyear2013
3.) Stock must be over $5, and no ETFs
4.) Entry must be made by the close of trading on Monday, December 31st.
Don’t miss your chance to have your name in the iBC hall of fame! Good Luck everyone!

I like that entrants actually need to put more effort into this versus merely having to push the “Shift” key and type some letters into the comments section.
agreed. Thanks for the comment @elizamae

i see it, good pick.
Chart upload button hanging endlessly for me via Google Chrome. Maybe a sign to short $GOOG but, in the meantime, trying to make my pick for $YELP. Hoping it does better than my pick last year which was fucking $ATPG.
Ha, my pick of short ATPG worked out fine.
Ooooh…

OOoooh yeah!!
RC, any decision on whether or not dividends count toward the year end stock price? If so, it’s a tight race between DJMarcus and me this year.
LONG LIVE MARKET MONK.
Indeud.
I log in, get the place to upload a chart, select it from my computer and it does it thing. But when I go to “pin it” it says upload a chart first.
What the f?
Never mind, switched browsers and it worked. Check out my awesome “chart art”.

No one had inhibitex this year? For some reason I remember thinking “well, that contest is over” once they got bought out.
RC.. I posted $ROVI
It’s not letting me upload a chart. It just has to be a jpeg right? I click select chart, then browse and select the file which loads then says “Complete” but then after putting hashtags and pressing “pin it” it brings up an error saying “You must upload a chart”
I apologize for this ineptitude. First internet explorer was the problem. Switched to mozilla and found that bmp files don’t show up but png works fine.
