What Should I Do?

$SINA reports later today, and I still hold a piece from the low 50s. It is not a full position so I am thinking about holding it into earnings. However, every time I do such a thing, I quickly receive the homo hammer.

Before today, I had it in my mind that I would hold, but then I started to see some negative comments (always wrong) from Piper lowing the price target to $44.

Help me decided what to do with this last piece of SINA. Do I let it ride? or sell out and take my win.

Buy a few puts to hedge your long position.

Expensive at this point. If you are to buy puts, sell a lower strike price put against it, and just insure against some of your loss. I.e. buy $62.5 puts and sell $57.5 strike puts against it.

Could also swap out and buy bull call spread, or swap out and sell puts against it and only be liable for a move below $57.5.

Ye pretty much nailed the bottom on yer buy.

My vote is to sell April 75 calls against purchasing weekly 60 puts. This should give you a credit of about .4 (enough to cover the cost of commission and then some). If they report terrible numbers, then your (basically) free puts protect your shares and you are not hit with the downside. If they beat numbers you capture 12% of the move before your shares are called away.

Worst case scenario: The world ends and we all die.

Logical worst case scenario: expiring the week at $60 then selling off. Or if somehow you end up with uncovered calls and it runs past 75. Though you’re a good trader and wouldn’t let that happen.

Sell and take your profit, because in that case, you can only not gain from here should earnings be good. That’s money you never had. If earnings are bad, however, you’ll lose money that’s in your pocket.

Take the money and run.

What does the PPT say to do RC? Have you looked at the hybrid scores? Is this exhibiting the classic “broken chicken wing” pattern before earnings like GMCR has done about 50 times?

Hello there! This is kind of off topic but I need some advice from an established blog. Is it very difficult to set up your own blog? I’m not very techincal but I can figure things out pretty fast. I’m thinking about creating my own but I’m not sure where to begin. Do you have any tips or suggestions? Cheers
