Paypal for Bitcoin Exposure

I am trying to find my way into Paypal shares.  The online merchant allows users to transact in bitcoin, which intrigues me.

Bitcoin is worth about $350 right now, and anyone with this super currency has plenty of ways to convert it into goods and services.  These video game bux are a very real form of payment.

The stock had a nice push from the $35 handle today. If we get a check back to this region I am going to be there, bidding the long.  Risk to the double low at $33.85.

Aside from outright bitcoin ownership, I think this is one the best ways to expose some investment risk to the bitcoin empire.

    I agree.

Of course the Bitcoin discussion is ripe with comedy and jokes and people who believe its the second coming is hysterical, it is going to be here to stay in the future.

Raul, I did a write up on PayPal. I should’ve included this too into my thesis. However, there’s a ton of other things to like about PayPal (monetizing Venmo will be huge).

    good write up Raul,

can you explain this thesis a bit more? Im a bit confused in how PYPL is a direct beneficiary of bitcoin? My understanding is that ultimately if bitcoin is successful in the mass market they will supplant traditional processors like PYPL. Does PYPL have a special relationship other than allowing payment to be sent in bitcoin…..seems there isn’t much durable competitive advantage in allowing that feature other than brief first mover advantage. Thanks for any clarity. Im also interested in ways to play bitcoin.

You could also buy the Bitcoin Investment Trust $GBTC. Problems with $GBTC are that it is illiquid and trades at a huge multiple to underlying net asset value. These things won’t matter much until a more liquid ETF comes along (the Winklevae $COIN?) then $GBTC will get killed.
