WHEN WHINING TURNS TO LAUGHTER, PREPARE FOR DISASTER

It’s been said that as soon as the natives start popping bottles, bragging on their newly minted stacks and shopping for new bling, it’s best to prepare for a surprise prison-sex style move in your portfolio.

The kind where you can’t quite close your mouth yet from the laughter and cheering, before you get a mouthful…

Of losses.

Might you take a small piece of your winship, and insure yourself for a rainy day. That way…you are fully prepared for all the “what if’s” that the future holds.

Yea, sold off a bunch of winners and some marginal losers cuz I was getting too confident, talking up how much my account is up. I’m my own best contrarian signal. Buying back in on a fresh bunch of losers dips. Just bought JMEI and CBG.

ATI still squeezing higher (while i watch on the sidelines wondering why I didn’t put a note somewhere to put this trade on…..one of the drawbacks to listening the AHWOA while driving home from work).

At least I don’t have to worry about an exit strategy……I would have sold this morning and then been pissed all day

Closed a portion of my $ATI at 800%. I am at a higher cash position than I’ve had in weeks, as a result of closing positions and being really selective about adding new ones. Trying to have an umbrella ready for a rainy day.

A couple of interesting earnings plays this week: $CELG, $BRO (short), and I keep staring at this $ERIC today.

(also, full disclosure, I caught myself absolutely patting myself on the back today – that’s why I made myself close part of my $ATI)

Will someone please tell RH that retail is up today. Same with YY and YRD in China names.
PBYI looks ready to rumble if Bio holds.

good call on the sentiment location – in this space, yes, euphoria seems to be where we are, but is this the case in the general market? Tough to say….Does the sentiment that you see on your space here reflect what is widespread in the market? I suppose the question is, are you a contrarian on the sentiment of your viewers?

ATI had me seeing stars all day I didn’t even see my PHM popping…. another OA idea working like a charm, although I timed that one all on my own. PHM was my favorite chart of the bunch right after the boot camp concluded.

See Jeff? I do listen to you, even if I don’t always full grasp what you’re saying, lol.

CREE exploded off the open but came back to earth a bit. It’s sitting on the ledge of the volume pocket.

Is this the “shelf” you refer to? Where a breakout is supposed to pause?

I am in love with $WBMD. Will get longer term calls today to negate earnings risk.
    Also like $MEET.

And considering a hedge, but undecided. I’ve raised a lot of cash in the last couple of days, and that may be enough. Looking at $BRO, $SAIC, and I’m stuck on the regional banks as a short but not sure the market agrees with me, so I will have to respect that and watch the next few days’ price action.

This doesn’t look nearly as steep to me, and I like the bottoming action much more now than in 2007. But I recognize what you’re seeing as well.
