In retrospect, should have been cash up until this point when the initial RUT rally failed 9/19 – 9/22… at that point, should have been obvious we were heading to test this level. Could have saved a few %. :\ Lesson learned.

No. The rally comes soon regardless. If this is truly a different market now, the health of that rally will be your tell. If you are bearish now, you short into it heavily.
I was just thinking, I would imagine their are a lot of traders looking to get short on the bounce.
Only thing is, barring a bunch of long tailed candles a lot of the setups might need some work.

I was 100% long until 3:58pm yesterday, no joke. But I just had one of those trader feelings that somehow the action felt different. So I closed out all my longs and went full short SPY at 3:59pm. Got lucky. I feel like there is a bit more until capitulation today, the buyers conditioned to buy the dips are fueling more downside today.

I think DOW down 300 today would be fitting, based on trader feel alone. We just had a 250 down day, so to have a solid fearful selling day, I feel they need to push it to beyond uncomfortable.

Puts in QQQ & MGM have me narrowly up on the day (which sounds impressive until you realize that it’s because all of my calls have eroded so much premium there is virtually nowhere lower for them to go- except I’ve effectively disqualified the possibility of recuperating even some premium). Thankful I did not over-extend myself based on good guidance from OA (and against my gambler’s nature). Licking my wounds and getting ready for the next battle. But I’ll hate staring at all of these losses until Oct 18.
Trying $BAC December calls. $16 strike was cheap in the face of any kind of rebound, hopefully the long expiry and conservative strike give me some wiggle room to be “eventually right”. This worked for me the last time doom & gloom prevailed in the spring. I’ll gradually work my way back to short dated, out-of-the-money calls.
