Meanwhile, I have a few DDD Aug 60 calls and I am thinking this will continue to base and eat away at premium. Wondering if I should hold or exit.
I am in that same DDD trade. Down about 30% here not sure what to do.
It’s hugging the 23.6 Fib (topt- bottom on recent decline) and I just think it’s going to continue to base. I have Aug 8 and 16 at 60 strike. Perhaps I should sell the 8s. Down 50% on both.

I just got in Aug 16 $56.50 strike, so I have been watching very carefully today and they’ve been holding up well amid the volatility. Hopefully that bodes well for us!

The normal 3rd week of August? Guys DDD is in the “3’s and 4’s” and the 2’s and 3’s are just starting to go and you have over 3 weeks. If you put 1-2% of capital into the trade and thus positioned size to lose the whole thing, no big deal if you do. It’s like a loan to those who bet against you, you’ll get it back plus interest.
The opportunity cost of passing up a 500% return or something if it works though is a big deal. Let the trade work.
Good point. Have to remember the 2, 3, 4 perspective. Picked up the options weeks ago before the recent discussion on that so didn’t apply that thought process to it.

That’s exactly right. I had a buddy the other day asking where he could put some savings that had a decent return. I told him to pick an MLP or maybe an old man stock, not hard to find something paying 4-8% in dividend. Buy it on a dip to sweeten the deal. Couple grand here, couple grand there, etc. He was absolutely, 100% against it. Said it was gambling, and what he really needed was a savings account or CD or something that paid 4%. Good luck w/that.

What are your returns annually? Just curious? When I shed the weight of options I started making 50%+ fairly regularly. My weakness is picking tops / bottoms but my strength is having balls of steel, emotionally speaking
Jon, I can’t speak for others, but can tell you I started looking at a 50% gain on the year as a less-than-stellar year once I started learning under OA.
My return under OA has been something like 4000% in 3 months; albeit almost all were my own calls, but I wouldn’t have made the same plays without learning from OA.
And we’ve already been over this before, I’m an insane speculator.
Jon, I can only speak for myself, but under OA’s mentorships my results this year in options are distributed as follows and expectations have been modeled from it:

Note how the system requires you to let winners run to very large heights and how the return and drawdowns are very sensitive to position size.
We tend to do much better buying options when implied volatility is near historically low end of its range and vix is lower.
Cheesetrader, are you still watching CSLT? Stopped at the lower end of its consolidation range today and held up well. Finviz is still showing 67% short interest and Shortanalytics.com is showing 45%. I picked up some August 15’s with a small size today. Could be a great monthly lotto ticket.

Thanks Yoshi, I booked it for 340% into strength. I can’t complain but the real driver of growth in my account is in the occasional outlier and letting the extreme moves occur. But this just wasn’t one of those stocks I felt comfortable letting run. Is at a very akward spot with 2.5 days left.
I am too. If more stocks were moving like this, I’d let it run.

Do they have earnings if they are CHIN-R stocks? I mean actual meaningful earnings that are measured?
Have a tough time figuring out why EJ doesn’t track LEJU more with its ownership interest- LEJU up 15% this morning at peak and EJ only up a few… not to mention market caps are now the same. (sold my LEJU and rolled in EJ)

I used to try and trade that way, following big block calls as they sometimes talk about on CNBC but it wasn’t working. Just curious if anyone here has tried this or had any luck?
