Yes, but not for a trade.
I like ROSG long term also, looking at the 5 year chart. But I would sell on a 30% fast pop and buy on a short retrace, or chase 10% higher if not. Buying dips but not slow decline into January.

OA, I’m sure some of us have options that are underwater at this point due to the current conditions in the market. I know we always say we don’t want to deploy good money after bad but a part of me wants to purchase more of what I am already holding to average down. We still have time with these Dec calls and I do understand they are not stock. In other words if one is wrong you are potentially out the premium. Is there ever a time to average down in your opinion or is this just an absolute no way do you do this with options type of thing?
I never recommending averaging an instrument that can go to zero. That has to be solely up to the individual.

QIHU was just a YOLO earnings play as they haven’t missed in 5 straight quarters and everything I’ve read says they’ve taken market share from Baidu.
OA if I did YOLO’s for Nov. 29 on QIHU if they hit and the price goes for 20% gain should I just hold to exp. or try to sell my contracts?
Just a cautionary tale on this – optino prices are inflated if they are alive over/during earnings. I learned the hard way that a pop and hold at the pop can still result in eroding option prices.

no. I sold at 12 and essentially kept my profits on the table. Plus i sold some 14 and 15 Dec calls at 13. Not complaining, just a weird day where i’m mostly flat but seems like every position is up big or down big.

I bought these Qihu 11/29 $100 calls three days ago for an earnings play and they have been eaten alive. I’m down 40% on them. I was confident at one point but now I am uncertain. Thinking about trying to sell them and just taking the loss?
IMO it’s best to establish trade guidlines when the initial trade is completed. For instance, if I had a certain price target, but then get greedy, I run the risk of holding onto it and it then dropping, or my stopping point is met, but holding out hope that it will come back up, but ends up keep going down and losing more. In short, have your clear defined prices and stick to them. I’m sure most people would agree.

Depends on your personal trading style. My personal trading style is to get something rather than nothing while using a time stop, so I would sell ASAP because of your short fuse. A technique I use is to cover my premium by selling some portion of options ASAP after purchase, then holding the rest close to expiration without the worry about losses.

Your entry on this trade was horrible. Stock is down $8.00 (roughly 10 percent), did you truly expect it to go up when you top ticked ? Last quarter on record revenue, profit, and cash flow, the stock jumped about $5, stayed level, dipped about $2 and then rose slightly. If you think their earnings announcement is going to be so good that you can get a $12 (15%) gain in this market heading into Thanksgiving, then hang in there – if not, cut your losses. And as everyone in here has said……

Sure, I also have a fairly sizeable pile of shit in my trading account but this is just an overreaction to Fedspeak. It’s not like we don’t know tapering is coming at some point.
