You held the TZA through yesterday’s rise and are still holding it? But all the rest of your many stocks & options are long. Is it a hedge then, that you don’t expect will really be needed?
I’ve labeled this a hedge from the get-go. I’ve told others that were trading this to sell back on Mon. A hedge, by definition should be a position that loses money. That would mean the investments that are being hedged are right, and are making money. No?

OA – whats your angle on ROSG? i like the fundamental story and concept (im an MD with a biotech background), but thats not enough. would be interested in your thoughts.
Biotech background? Interesting. I’m in the process of collecting a basket of biotech/genetics plays for the long term. I’m an uber-bull on genetics, sequencing, etc. You would likely have more insight, would love to hear any thoughts you have.
so your interest is based on the fundamental story? i was wondering if you were seeing something in the options market structure that made the play compelling now. i have been following ROSG for a long time, and like the concept very much. however, most of these “personalized medicine” startups will go BK. the market they are targeting is currently very small, but there are huge opportunities for growth and cost savings deploying this type of technology. for example, roughly 10% of people will not respond to the drug Clopidogrel (Plavix), which is a widely used anti-platelet drug used after stents are placed in coronary arteries. non responsiveness is genetic, and if these people could be identified in advance, they could be given a different medication and avoid extremely costly complications, such as in stent thrombosis. there is obviously more to ROSG than this basic concept, but in a nutshell, thats the idea.
This is why I like the idea of carefully creating a basket of plays that might take off once the science is made available, and is cheap and affordable.
On a side note, I think the stock is due for a pop soon.
i see. ive owned ALNY since the single digits – if ROSG (or any competitor) is able to develop a platform with a broad array of diagnostics in much the same way that ANLY has created a broad pipeline of RNA based therapeutics, could be a monster win. ROSG is the diagnostics version of therapeutics companies like ALNY and ISIS.

So I don’t know which way to turn!
