Actually, they weren’t.
They were national socialists in name only–and they called themselves the ‘national socialist german workers party’ as a way to draw workers away from the Communist party into the national movement.
But they fought with the Communists constantly in the early years–and eventually dropped the veneer of being a center-left party, gradually becoming pro business as the years went by–performing such ‘socialist’ acts as banning strikes and outlawing unions soon after they took power. I am not sure how this makes them socialists, but I suppose if Glen Beck says Nazis were socialists then everyone believes it. And those who deny it are part of the socialist conspiracy
And regarding your final point, I would point out that there have been many ‘anti-human’ acts carried out in the name of capitalism and free markets. There will always be those who want to control others using power, money–or both. It really doesn’t matter what political philosophy they espouse–the final ‘solution’ is the same
