You know, some of these ill-mannered insults would be eliminated if the practice of dueling made a comeback. Nothing like the prospect of being run through or shot to instill some civility, eh?

Dude called Palin a “cunt.” But doesn’t get much criticism for that from the liberal press.

Ah, Jake, coming from a troglodyte like Drummer boy, I wouldn’t care. But coming from a serious gentleman like yourself, I’m shattered, destroyed, completely undone.

No, seriously, I thought you were serious. And I thought Woody woodpecker was a respectable person. But I was wrong. You see, I don’t mind if someone has different politics from me. What gets me is when someone is an asshole.

Really, and I’ve always been cordial even when I disagree. And generally friendly. But when you start character assassination and start to be generally insulting, well then, the gloves come off.

It’s astonishing that you seem to think you can swing those little balls of yours around here at anyone who has anything to say that doesn’t agree with your radical fringe ideas, and expect them to kowtow.

I really did think you were a gentleman. But I guess I was wrong.

Name calling, of course, does not apply to people like Maher. He’s cool, liberal, smart and funny.

He’s a comedian. If he were the chairman of the Democratic National Committee, or, I don’t know, maybe an official blogger on the ibankcoin, name calling would be unethical, uncool, and I would condemn him for a misuse of his position.

But he’s a comedian–and what’s fabulous about comedians is that they get to say it like it is… ain’t it so?

Indeed, let me follow that up. Palin is now going around saying that Obama wants to take the country back to “pre-civil war.” If I were a descendants of American slavery, I would want to smack her upside her stupid mouth. Not only is she trivializing what American slavery was, she is trivializing the real accomplishments of civil rights in this country. Talk about ugly race-baiting. It’s really sickening just how easy and casual it all is.

Therefore theonomists believe God’s law governs all of life. It must govern society no less than it governs our individual lives, families, and churches. We resist attempts by any individual, group, or sphere to usurp God’s lawful authority. For instance, we firmly oppose the increasing encroachments of the secular state on Christians, churches, and society as a whole. We do not oppose these encroachments because we are political troublemakers. We oppose them because they represent the attempt of the state to play God. For the same reason, we oppose tyranny in the church, family, or any other sphere. We fully support lawful authority under God’s rule, but oppose anybody’s attempt to usurp that authority. We believe the family, church, and state are all essential, though limited, spheres of lawful authority.

Libertines are forever throwing out the Puritan card because they want blanket approval for every mess they make, society be damned.

The same fools won’t utter a peep about honor killings in their own backyard, however, as that might be an advance against “diversity.”

            Useful idiots, indeed.

“throwing a ball for your daughter for some wacky religious bullshit is not comparable to the taliban”

    A very revealing comment.

The ball is irrelevant. The relevant point is male ownership of and responsibility for female virginity.

        This is America, too:
        http://watchdogs.blogs.starnewsonline.com/19718/new-hanover-commissioners-choose-not-to-accept-family-planning-funds/

The county’s health department was awarded $8,899 in family planning funds that would “provide medical services related to family planning including physician’s consultation, examination, prescription, continuing supervision, laboratory examination and contraceptive supplies,” according to a budget amendment item included in documents for Monday’s commissioners meeting. The county was not required to match the state grant.

Chairman Ted Davis said he thought it was a sad day when “taxpayers are asked to pay money for contraceptives” for women having sex without planning responsibly.

“If these young women are being responsible and didn’t have the sex to begin with, we wouldn’t have this problem to begin with,” Davis said.

Outside of Taliban rule, being responsible would include such items as “physician’s consultation, examination, prescription, continuing supervision, laboratory examination and contraceptive supplies”.

Watch out for Ott. He is one of those tricky guys with the three cups and the bean. What Professor Ottnot left out was that the county is already receiving funds for family planning. These would have been additional funds to cover those “who were not being responsible with existing family planning.”

Remember, Ott thinks these people are the American Taliban.

“Commissioner Rick Catlin, who represents the commissioners on the county’s health board, said he also voted against accepting the funds when the item was on the health board’s agenda.

He said he was concerned with answers to questions he asked about the funds.

“The answers that I got were that there were patients that were not being responsible with existing family planning that was being offered and that this would provide a more reliable solution for those people,” Catlin said at Monday afternoon’s commissioners meeting.

He added that he had an issue with “using taxpayer dollars to fund someone’s irresponsibility.”

Professor Ott has successfully bombed the thread by bringing up some obscure practice that has nothing to do with home-schooling. Such are the motives of a leftist who’s continued employment is reliant upon NOT allowing parents school choice. Rather than looking at Ott’s distraction, perhaps some facts are in order? Or perhaps you can ignore the facts and send your kids to Ott’s school for indoctrination and further “liberal studies.”

Purcellville, VA—Today, HSLDA released a new study: the Progress Report 2009: Homeschool Academic Achievement and Demographics, conducted by Dr. Brian Ray of the National Home Education Research Institute, which surveyed 11,739 homeschooled students for the 2007–08 academic school year. The results were consistent with previous studies on homeschool academic achievement and showed that homeschoolers, on average, scored 37 percentile points above public school students on standardized achievement tests.

“These results validate the dedication of hundreds of thousands of homeschool parents who are giving their children the best education possible,” said Michael Smith, president of HSLDA.

The Progress Report drew homeschoolers from 15 independent testing services and is the most comprehensive study of homeschool academic achievement ever completed.

While the academic results are impressive, the study also showed that the achievement gaps common to public schools were not found in the homeschool community.

Homeschooled boys (87th percentile) and girls (88th percentile) scored equally well; the income level of parents did not appreciably affect the results (household income under $35,000: 85th percentile—household income over $70,000: 89th percentile); and while parent education level did have some impact, even children whose parents did not have college degrees scored in the 83rd percentile, which is well above the national average for public school students. Homeschooled children whose parents both had college degrees scored in the 90th percentile.

“Because of the one-on-one instruction homeschoolers receive, we are prepared academically to be productive and contributing members of today’s society,” said Smith.

The average public school spends nearly $10,000 per child per year whereas the Progress Report shows that the average homeschool parent spends about $500 per child per year.

“Homeschooling is a rapidly growing, thriving education movement that is challenging the conventional wisdom about the best way to raise and educate the next generation,” said Smith.

There are an estimated 2 million homeschooled children in the U.S. today, which is about 4% of the school-aged population, and homeschooling is growing at around 7% per year.
