A Public Service Announcement

Wages

Salary of retired US Presidents ………….$450,000 FOR LIFE
Salary of House/Senate members ……….$174,000FOR LIFE

Salary of Speaker of the House ………….$223,500 FOR LIFE

Salary of Majority/Minority Leaders …..$193,400
FOR LIFE

Average salary of a soldier DEPLOYED IN AFGHANISTAN $38,000
Average income for seniors on SOCIAL SECURITY– $12,000

I think we found where the cuts should be made!  How about no life payments for starters ? Then consider no salary higher than the national income average.

All they have to do is undo half the regulatory and economic spaghetti-mess that Zero (fiddled while the US burned) installed ontop of our economy like some kind of Borg-bot and we’ll be off to the races.

You Dems don’t seem to realize… a large part of Reagan’s success was derived from undoing what stupidity had gone before him (including the stupidity of Richard Nixon, not to be overly partisan).

Well that an the ability to print unlimited money by exporting inflation to the rest of the world, something often overlooked.

Reclassifying ketchup as a vegetable to save on school budgets to pay for his cold war was another super classy move – fuck the children.

First of all, I don’t vote since I don’t even live in the USA. I am neither Democrat or Republican.

Secondly, as long as you idiots keep thinking this is a democrat vs republican problem the politicians and those that own them will continue to win. Both parties like their pork and regulations, albeit different flavors.

And yes Jake, the economy was doing just fine under your Republican deregulation “a house for everyone” super star George – well played.

For life? Are you sure about this? I know thy have life payments and golden parachutes but I don’t think it’s equal to their salery.
Nevertheless I think their payments should be based on the strength of the economy over the following 10 years after they get out. That way they might care about long term solutions.

Cronk, that list isn’t accurate. The average retired congressperson’s pension is around $60K, and only after 20 years of “service”. Your point that they are overpaid, with too many benefits is completely valid, though. See: http://usgovinfo.about.com/od/uscongress/a/congresspay.htm

Man, there’s a lot of crappy info on the internet. A shame so much of it makes its way to IBC news.

They get paid during their terms, not for life.

They get a pension for life, though, if they have at least 5 years combined service as a member or employee of Congress.

Full retirement age is 62. That ought to be bumped up.

Hey Cronk, happens to the best of us. I think the point is, after thousands of news stories, I can only think of two that were posted that were incorrect.
