Obama to Veto Any Bill Which Eliminates Mandatory Scheduled Spending Cuts

“President Obama threatened to veto any attempt to eliminate the $1.2 trillion in mandatory spending cuts scheduled to take effect in 2013 now that the super committee has failed.

In a terse statement from the White House briefing room, Obama said, “I will veto any effort to get rid of those automatic spending cuts. There will be no easy off ramps on this one.”

He added that he will also push Congress to extend the payroll tax cut into 2012, warning that if lawmakers fail to act “taxes for every American will go up next year.”

Of course he’ll veto any recourse bill. All the cuts hit Republican priorities like the military. Christ the Tea Party are stupid.

But it was the republican establishment (like boehner for instance) that pushed the “compromise.” Whatever opposition existed and no-votes there were, mostly came from tea party people.

Dipshit… the Tea party didn’t WANT the compromise.

That was the unctuous Boehner express.

Cut it all. Who gives a fuck? This is all smoke and mirrors. Even if every penny of the sequestration actually occurs in 2013, Defense spending will still climb by over 100 billion over the next 10 years.

    That’s right, spending still INCREASES.

Smoke and mirrors. There are no true cuts. Only decreases in the rate of spending increases. Read that carefully.

real spending cuts would spike unemployment massively. we will be “fighting them over here” only “they” will be us. take away the old fucks entitlements? grandma will be mixing molotov cocktails while grandpa forges bullets out of beer cans and scrap steel. it sounds good. cut spending! better start building more prisons.

No one is talking about taking anything away, especially not from current retirees. We are talking about reducing entitlements for future retirees.

thats the problem. its a lose lose. we should take it away from the old. five years of granny revolt is better than twenty from the kids. the good thing is europe goes first. lets see how the youngins over there deal with it. the epic “sorry kids your fucked” moment. the goldman sach’s has decided the old are golden til death but you have to shovel their shit then starve.

Reduce income inequality to promote consumption not savings. This included in your reducing entitlements from future retirees hypothesis ‘Shed?

“Reduce income inequality,” — please tell me you are being ironic here.

Might as well say, “plane everyone’s IQ — max 93.”

I love our President. Guess whos voting him in next year?

I AM. I am so fucking proud to say it too. He is the mastermind. Bush tax cuts expire, these automatic cuts come into play and all the republicans have are a bunch of morons trying to be president.

Hermain Cain doesnt have a chance.
    Michelle Bachman no chance.
    Mit Romney no chance
HAHAHA NEWT Gingrich no fucking chance.
And I forgot the next guys name, his name was, was, was,
    Oh right Rick Perry. LOL

Good luck trying to beat President Obama with that bunch. Hes smarter then them, and I must admit a master planner.

    Obama 12.

    Pete
I’ll give him that he is smarter then most of them, but more importantly in politics he is a far more talented actor/performer with a great bunch of writers on his team. That’s what really matters in politics, whoever can fool the most people wins!!

Too bad hes spending most his time ruining our country by accelerating the pace freedom is taken away to be replaced by more rules instead of free choice, and fooling the masses (like you).

I’m not even talking about the stock market just the little things in life.

One thing good done on his watch that was added to heath care reform but totally unrelated is that guns are now legal to carry in national parks.

You might have to get taxed per mile on top of gas tax already one day, or only be able to smoke menthol flavored cigarettes since he took office, but at least one can defend themselves against a angry bear in the park.

Pete is the frog sitting in the pot as the water starts to bubble thinking he got himself a free Jacuzzi.

The “Petes” of this world actually deserve a Chavista dictator like the Zero.

It’s unfortunate that many of the “IQ planed” are given the same voting weight as those who value their freedom in this country.

the irony being that by nobly “saving taxpayers money” by cutting back on government spending they literally reduce the number of dollars that the taxpayers have. if you can think for a second about that, its a factual statement.

the solitary consequence of government debt and deficits is inflation (because dollars are created when the government deficit spends, and government deficit spending adds to aggregate demand), and any discussion of debt ceilings and the like should focus on inflation, not on completely silly commentary about how the government is broke and so forth.

And bubblicious levels of commodity speculation aside (with China no doubt contributing to it to no small extent), there isn’t much inflation in the US right now.

Things are always bright and cheery in your balance sheet-less world, aren’t they?

Might I recommend a course in accounting 101? I went to a liberal arts school for my undergrad too, so I get the ridiculous concentration on monetarist macro econ.

There are, however, courses in finance and accounting available at your local community college at a steep discount to your typical top 20 MBA program that will suffice…

jake, no offense, but things are always crystal clear in your dogmatic world, aren’t they? Lets avoid feelings here and stick to facts:

The US cannot have a balance sheet problem when all it owes is dollars, that is a material fact because it can create as many dollars as it wants. Instantly and for free.

The solitary consequence for creating dollars (which, by the way, is done via deficit spending, not via “the bernank”) is inflation.

Therefore it is completely senseless to discuss debt levels or the balance sheet of the government, and any conversation should focus on inflation.

There isn’t really any arguable statements there, Jake. Just a couple of facts.
