Supposedly this merger does not hurt competition because of internet video services such as Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime. Notably, these services compete in Entertainment, but not News…
I believe this is the same reason why major newspapers were allowed to merge: the internet.
While local new will always be covered, and national news will ahve plenty of coverage on the internet, regional news will suffer from these trends
Does it hurt the objective reporting of news when fewer outlets are available? Not sure what Amazon Prime has to do with journalism.
