Unfortunately, above-noted Joyeaux Bivalve was closed this evening, despite their advertising paraphenalia claiming “Open 7 Days!” Maybe that meant seven days in July, I dunno, but the only thing we really missed out on were the blueberry margaritas (or maybe I should say Mrs. Gint and her sister missed out on them), as we had a fine repast at a low key little dining joint called Farmer’s. I had the blackened haddock and it was eggsellent. Tomorrow night, it’s oysters from a famed Maine bay, and then perhaps to the joint Monsieur Le Fly has recently recommended to us.
We did see the last Harry Potter tonight with the older kids and I have to admit it was a disappointment. I’m not as big a fan as the Mrs. and the boys are, but even I could tell they threw away much of the story in exchange for more whiz bang effects. I’m disappointed in Ms. Rowling for having allowed this. I remember from the book that the “King’s Cross Station” scene was of high importance and I have to say they screwed that scene right up, opting to keep the Headmaster as the winsome but cryptic soul rather than the more Gandalfian parent he’d become by that point in the arc.
No worries, I’m fully confident that son #2 will engineer the re-make perfectly in 2031. He’s already framing his shots.
Nothing much tonight on the stock front I’m afraid. I sold a little AG today at $24.04 to “take some off the top” so to speak, as gold and silver are racing ahead at breakneck speed. I still have oodles. Of course, it looks like the “regular market” is seeking a crash zone, so I would be loathe to advise you to grab any PM picks tomorrow at least. However, if the market does sell off again tomorrow, I’d bet dollars to doughnuts there will be some nice entries available to you all.
Best to you, and don’t be shy about leaving a question while I’m on vacay — I tend to check in during the day in between kayaking between ice floes and harpooning grey whales.

It’s hard to like a movie once you’ve read the book, I didn’t read it and loved the movie.
That’s the truth. I remember back in the 90’s how all the Tom Clancy movies were shit compared to the books. Nowadays even the books are shit as well.
Same here. Really enjoyed it. Haven’t read any of the books.
I don’t know how you could even figure wtf was going on if you hadn’t read the books… the whole movie had about 500 words of dialogue.
Not even as good as the first half. All boom-boom, no guts.
____________
Mini has read all and we watch the movies all the time.
I think they left it open for a brand extension with the kids going to school. “Hogwarts Chronicles” kind of thing. No way it is retired. Not with .5B opening weekend (globally).
I’m over 47.5. What are you talking about?
Never forget my broker getting me to buy $AOL based on the HP franchise.
Thanks for posting. You contribute so much to IBC.
Too bad about the blueberry margaritas. Mrs. 50 would like those too.
Regarding Harry Potter: I’ve read them all and watch everyone except this last one. And to be honest, at this point, they have pretty much all run together and are indistinguishable in this old muddled brain.
Nevertheless, I have enjoyed each and everyone.
But I must say, unlike many of my relatives and friends, if you give me a good story with a beginning and a middle and an end, I’ll probably like it.
As such, I plan to never apply for the job of critic.
In any case, carry on as it appears that you and the Dr. are enjoying yourselves.
I liked all the movies, save this one.
It was a mash-up, and concentrated on all the wrong things…
___________
I saw my first and only Borat movie in a small local theatre in New Hampshire. I had no idea what I was walking into. But the most unneving part was the conservative, stuck up looking older New England ladies in the audience laughing with gusto and loving the movie. You never know…
Never start production of a film series before the book series is finished.
Artistically, that might work better, but time value of money says get ’em out, we’re not getting any younger.
Besides, they were doing fine with the movies until this final one.
___
game of thrones season 1 was excellent
Yes, reasonably true to the book, too. They did the fiery dragon birth scene very nicely, I thought.
________
Best opening title sequence of any show i’ve seen in a long time.
The show drags at some points (ie – anything to do with the Wall, all pomp no substance) but I’m hooked and look forward to next year. Dinklage (Lannister imp) and Carcetti from The Wire are great.
Have you read the books, #6?
If not, do so now.
The author is a squish like you, but you can hardly tell. 😉
_____________
You poo poo’d them right before the HBO series came out so i didn’t think they were worthy. If I recall correctly, you called him a Tolkien hack (or the like). But I’ll definitely read the books if they are worth it. Got a lot of summer reading ahead of me.
I did no such thing. I’d said I’d never heard of him, but that most people who wrote what is typically called “fantasy” after Tolkien were somewhat derivative.
This guy is not… much more like historical fiction than “fantasy-type” stuff. Very political, very adult in that way. Not for kids, though I did let #1 read the books, as there was no keeping him away.
_____________
Just picked up a copy of the 5th in the book series today. The First three are exceptionally great. The fourth pissed me off (largely owing to the absence of half the characters).
My son got the fifth book. I am loathe to read it, given the way he made everyone wait for it.
What if he takes another 6 years for the next??
________
I know the feeling. But on the chance that it’s as good as the first three…
Don’t forget how awful Jurassic Park was compared to the movie, more whiz bang – no soul.
Where’s Tom Bombadil?
Sen. Gint,
At what point would be a good entry into AGQ for fresh $.
Also i know you love a solid spec play…look at QMM and let me know what you think..it is a solid story..loads of upside
Test of the ten day or whenever we fill that gap at $207-ish looks good for AGQ.
QMM is rounding out a bottom, but no volume to speak of yet. I’d wait for that. Considerable resistance at $1.55.
___________
AGQ down to 203.64 ah, going lower for a bit imho. Pardon the blasphemy. I managed to grab a little ZSL around 13.50, thank you potus, for a swing.
You are being punished for that as we speak.
_____
I was out at 14.30, did you pick up some AGQ under 200?
yes.
____
Does the acquisition of 4 mining concessions in Mexico help GPL? Would you recommend adding shares due to this purchase?
$3.80
___________
Dumped some EXK here, like AG yesterday — I was overweighted and wanted to raise some cash,
BBRG has hit my retrace and I got some there. Waiting to add more though.
Off to do some egregious island hopping via kayak.
_________
Jake,
The restaurant in the York Harbor Inn has an incredible macaroni and cheese.

Way too South for us, I’m afraid.
______
Without doubt, my best gold stock has been AAPL. They killed it again.
Amen to that…but just remember, JG has a special name for the company…CRAPPLE.
Oh, I know too well. He’s been fighting me, unfortunately, on crAAPL since 2000.
Jake,
Could I trouble you for a quick top 10 (in order, perhaps) of your holdings along with price targets?
I have followed you zealously and considering a rejigger of assets. I do remember you saying EXK was heading higher – surprised at your sale above, or mebbe Le Fly was raiding your vaults?
No, just saw an overbought moment and took off some of the extra, that’s all. Still like it.
____________
Seems like most gold miner stocks appear overbought. I’m no pro or expert but based on my limited ability to interpret the RSI, most of the ones that are mentioned here and in the PPT are hanging around the 70 level. Is that not the case?
Yep.
Some comedy: Krugman has stated that gold is a “marketing scam” and equated Glenn Beck / Goldline to DeBeers / Diamonds.
Paul Krugman could very well be the biggest douchebag in modern American history, and I don’t use the term lightly.
The biggest.
Well, perhaps Paul Begala is worse, but only by a smidge. Never have I seen a guy use his talents to such insincere ends. He is without honour… a “churl.”
___________
The liberal elite already tried to discredit the Goldline/Beck connection with former Rep. Wiener trying to start something. The proof is in the price of the commodity. If you had got in when Wiener was whining you be up like $700 on your 1/oz prize.
Krugman is definitely a man without honor.
Strange, I haven’t read any comparisons between the US dollar “marketing scam” and DeBeers/Diamonds. I will grant that he may be on to an idea (though he didn’t state it) in that gold is arbitrarily an important monetary metal, like diamonds are an arbitrary important rare mineral. After riding the hype up in precious metals (at least through US hyperinflation or default), I intend to exchange them partially for other rare, yet important metals. Rhenium, Niobium, etc.
I’ve got a solution to the ‘Debt Problem’ . Cut this list in half, if not more.
