Nice play, Fly. At this point, Virus stocks are a pure, 100% gamble. Only the Chinese know whether the threat is real because they are the only ones with enough data.
That genius docotr from Harvard didnd’t do any research on the virus himself, but relied on a report from Lncaster Universtity. If you actaulyl read what he wrote, it’s a giant “if” statement:

Here is my takeaway:
Media panic: “100k infections by Friday” Note that figure 4 shows “all” infections and “detectable” infections. Only Detectable infections are reported, becuase they are the only ones that show ANY symptoms. So if the report is correct, then we will still see under 20k infections by Friday.
In terms of attention to details, please note that on the Y-axis, charts on Figure 4 are all lablled “*New* infections, *per day*. However, the contetn of the paper of the paper quotes these exact same numbers as *Total* infections. There is a HUGE difference between 100k total infection in a week, and 100k new infections **per day** (and accelerating). However, the Lnacaster team seemed more eager to publish than for accuracy. Hopefully they fix this.
Unsurprisingly, viruse stocks are getting wrecked today. Buying virus stocks was an easy play – knowing when to sell them is trickier, which is why i didn’t risk gettign in.

Reading the CD transcript ( https://www.cdc.gov/media/releases/2020/t0127-coronavirus-update.html ), its clear that they think that the risk of non-syptomatic people infecting others is very low (ie, the Chinese Health Minister was probably lying).
In that case, this will still be very disruptive to China, but the effects on other countires will be minimal in terms of population health and the GDP effects will be secondary, related to the CHinese slowdown.

China says you can carry and be contagious with no symptoms. Handy statement eh? A clear exit of blame for them. Meanwhile, they are endorsing a stigmatism into people not unlike being positive (HIV) which is always held at complete confidentiality. Assholes.
In any case, positive with no symptoms is an extension of reality for some media here too. No sneezing, no runny nose, no coughing, no watery eyes means automatically way less risk during that period than is suggested.
As long as the masks etc are on TV they will be hot sellers here too.
Exactly. Also, there is a huge difference in overall infection rates with a virus that can be contagious for 14 days when the carrier has no symptoms. It would be explosive if this was actually true.
In epidemic terms, the one good thing about having this start in an amoral authoritarian country such as China, is that they have no qualms about locking peopel up and lettign them die until the epidemic is over, so that will minimize the spread to the rest of the world.

The only thing that could possible change the outcome of the impeachemnt trial is one of Trump’s current Yes men (Mulvaney, Mnuchin, Pompeo, etc.) are forced to testify under oath and decied not to perjure themselves. However, that will never happen.

As a non-Exodus sub, I can say there are pelnty of times that I’ve called out some of Fly’s trades as basically luck (gaisn on earnigns or other surprise news) or essentailly pump-and-dump (gains on low-volume small caps after posting about them).
