BOOZE FREE TILL SUMMER

I got some unexpected reactions to my previous post, where I casually stated I’d go without booze for a while. I hadn’t given it much thought and I certainly do not have a substance issue. I am keenly aware that when someone says that eyes immediately roll in the back of the readers head, solidifying the suspicion that the abstainer is, in fact, a fucking alcoholic.

The truth is far more simple and sincere. For the past year I’ve been a Chef at House Fly, eating well — but rich, very rich and decadent foods. My work has kept me from attending the gym at the level I enjoyed in previous years. My health is good, but I don’t feel great. Getting older, with my children older and more keenly aware of my actions, I felt this would be a positive thing to demonstrate, a discipline for the sake of doing it. There isn’t any downside to it. After all, alcohol is a poison and although it offers comfort and laughter, it is a malevolent friend, one that shortens lifespans and manifests itself incredulously — accentuating the worst in people. I simply want to do without it — mainly because I don’t. I hope that makes sense to you.

I will abstain from booze until the summer. I will not cheat or bend, because I’m stubborn and strong willed.

On the issue of stocks — a poor day for my trading account. I sold one stock for a 5% loss and another for a 1.5% gain. More or less, I am in a holding pattern. No rush — just holding and waiting.

Nice work Fly man. Perhaps you could replace the alcohol activities with a slow speed masticating Juicer and report back to basecamp. I cannot tell you what juicing does for you. You just have to feel it. Daily juicing habit. Off to eat some white cheddar popcorns.

No Pinot Noir with Thanksgiving dinner? No rum and egg nog at Christmas? What about a glass of bubbly at Midnight? Are you sure you want to do this to yourself? January is for fasting.

Alcohol does warm the body (and the spirit) during the cold winters, but as NC doesn’t have snow that lasts more than 2 days, perhaps the point is moot.

The compalcency in the market reminds of the first stage of a roller coaster:
      click, click, click, click…

On the other hand, I don’tr know how high this hill will be.

Ha! So I’m no longer a “Russian” troll. Glad you at least have the awareness to have dropped THAT after the Hillary/Tulsi thing showed just how clueless you and your MSM-programmable ilk are.

Now back to quietly hitting thumbs down with ya.

10 yrs at 2.0% and 30 yrs at 2.5% will be hard to break without actaul good news as opposed to rumors.

As for the complacency thing, Put/Call ratio at lowest level since Jan 2018 (right before the VIXpocalypse).

          More complacency indicators

I’ll note that the only indicator not at “Extreme Greed” is the VIX, but I don’t know what planet thinks VIX at 12 is “Neutral”

I don’t need a timeline to stop drinking. I haven’t had a drink in a few weeks and do not intend to drink until summer.

I understand Doctor Fly you feel the need to demonstrate “control” and have a “strong will” over your drinking yes yes yes I understand having been to AA meetings and all these “reasons” for maybe having the alcohol around like “cooking” sure sure and of coarse you’re thoughts of being an “alcoholic” is repulsive I understand it was for me too but if only “I can make it to summer” well then well then what then???

I’ve had three major crises in my life. Times where I thought “how the fuck am I gonna get out of this mess?” They all involved alcohol.

white days is periodic abstinance in Sweden, maybe other countries in scandinavia too. sometimes it is a strict period new years til Lent, other times it is decided depending on something. but having known many of them, it is always noticable when a person gets back in the pink from white days.

A lot of negative vibes here. I drink only on weekends, never more than 3 martinis or a few beers. I’m not posting this for approval but instead to float the fact I’m doing it in case anyone else truly wants to too.

VIX short positioning has taken on record proportions, exceeding even the previous record short right at the January 2018 highs right before holders of the doomed XIV product got massacred…

Modern monetary theory (MMT): you’ve heard the rumors, now read a **good** summary of it yourself: https://carnegieendowment.org/chinafinancialmarkets/80054

    For Donald Trump-level stable geniuses:
    http://ceipimages.s3.amazonaws.com/images/article_images/FIG-China-Financial-Market_MMT.jpg

    Definitions:
    – Supply-side constraints businesse don’t have the capacity to provide as much products/services as consumers want. This forms the justification of virtually all Republican (trickle-down) tax plans, including the 2018 one.

    – Demand-side constraints: consumers can’t afford to buy the goods/services that business provide. This forms the basis of Yang’s plan.

Note that that neither is “right” or “wrong”. They just have to be applied under the matching macro-economic conditions.

I applaud this move, Fly. Real men don’t need booze – because it weakens you. All these degenerate alcoholics need to leave you the fuck alone. I don’t drink and I face constant ridicule from my friends. But I think they are jealous…. and besides, fuck them.
