If any of you say you nailed the idiotic moves in the markets today, you’re banned. As for me, I churned my personal/aggressive account into dust, meandering in between TNA and TZA short term call contracts. The reason why I lost was because of time. I relearned a very valuable lesson in greed: never bet on a price with just 5 days till expiration. The trade had to be perfect, sublime, in a world filled with errors.
My managed accounts faired well, long WNR, TLT and GSVC, saddled with 70% cash.
Towards the end of the day, I went long Oct 38 calls on TNA and coupled it with a ZSL long. Pardon my bluntness, but silver is trading down, significantly, shortly. With the dollar as the new safe haven, gold and silver has lost its luster. Also, it’s worth noting, silver is for people clad with wooden shoes and black turtle neck hoodies.
Bottom line: today’s action was superb and should lead to a follow up rally, unless of course the Europeans fuck it via more news.

It isn’t vocabulary based. It is behavior based.
The metadata transmitted with your text when you click “Post Comment” includes a wealth of information about your keystrokes – timing, pressure, etc.
Jeremy has an algorithm that processes the metadata to detect when comments were typed with one hand. Such comments are held for moderation (i.e. further analysis) to determine what the other hand was doing. If you were picking your nose, your comment will be rejected.

I traded today perfectly today only in the sense that I sat on my hands… I don’t do well in these trader only environments. Until I have conviction of a couple day move in some direction… it’s more re-runs for me… seems like we don’t get enough bad news at once to push us lower, and when we get a reprieve and start spiking up it’s only a matter of time till some new scare comes along…. Aside from a couple high yielders and a couple small positions, I will wait for … well I will know it when I see it.

I like the looks of it. I bought a 2008 Kia Rio Hatchback and truth be told, it did not get the 30 mph city as advertised. It was made quite cheaply in comparison to say, a Volkswagen of the same style. And, it folded like an accordian when my son (he as fine) totaled it in March upon the slightest impact. It cost a lot more to insure because parts are expensive to replace. Maybe the SUV model is built better. If you’re in Upstate New York, where I live, I think you can buy a better SUV to handle the winters. I would not buy a Kia again, but then again, that was an economy model.

I am a sooth sayer.
In 2020, the concept of a “public” company, or corporation, will be a shameful idea. Public stocks will still be traded, but the common man doing so would be somewhat akin to widespread polo teams among our nation’s high schools today. You see, stocks are only supposed to be owned by the upper 1-2% of wealth owners in a society. Ownership of stock itself is in a bubble, and what you see today is a result of folks like alf44 trading stocks.
The singularity will have been delayed by 20 or 30 years due to the years between 2000-2020. The technology would have existed, but the widespread usage of brain implants and the modern cyborg will be set back one to two decades. Public funding is needed for jet packs protruding from the feet, and we are in austerity mode.
Fly, thank you for the honesty. When I see that you, a seasoned knowledgeable and wise investor, make these kind of mistakes from time to time, I feel a lot better about my own similar brand of mistakes that I’ve made. Just got to learn, move on, and keep trading.
