I have never heard Obama sound so fucking canned, ever. This speech was right off the teleprompter. Not one word came from his heart, which is why no one respects him. He isn’t leading because he does not have it in him to inspire people to act. After seeing this piece of offal mail in tonight’s speech, I am taking back my previous promise that I’d vote for him again if I didn’t like the GOP candidate. PFFFFFFFFFFFFFuck that. I’d rather vote for Mr. Potato Head than give this guy the keys to the White House, so his Mother in-law walk around the historic mansion in her fucking pajamas, for another 4 years.

over the long run, the fact is that the government should shrink and our taxes should drop. but for the time being, with probably a few million unemployed construction workers and the REALITY being that if you lwoer my taxes (i’m an employer in obamas hated “wealthy” tax bracket), does that cause me to hire? no, because the staff we have is currrently sufficient to handle the business level at each place.
What would cause me to hire? More business. Whats the most efficient route to that? More jobs. More jobs will beget more jobs, etc.
Lowering my tax rate will just increase my savings, which will stimulate nothing. Maybe it starts a stock market rally if you cut taxes on rich guys , but…
it won’t create jobs efficiently. clearly, the most efficient route to that now is a massive (and actually needed, and actually a decent investment) infrastructure stimulus package.
Rebuild every bridge, every school, every biology lab and every chemistry lab at every high school anywhere. Spend a hundred billion optimizing traffic flow (you’ll get that money back). Whatever.
Right now, tax cuts on dividends or higher income brackets won’t help, and even tax cuts on middle income brackets are most likely to go to savings.
Creating jobs will be the most efficient path to, well, creating jobs, and the most efficient path to that is to create construction jobs, via infrastructure spending.
long term should we wipe out welfare, free rides, all the things that jake (and me, before I began pondering economics (and still, but differently) on a car ride a while back) hate… SHOULD BE DONE. we should not have freeloading welfare cases starting fights at bars in this country, they should be banished to the far reaches of shameville.

He put a relatively non-controversial bill forward that has a decent amount of gunpowder and presented in a way that will make it difficult for the house republicans to not pass it.
The expectations for this speech were low because there is an assumption his proposals would never get passed, but this just might…
