Algorithmic Handouts

The Godly folks at iBC are working diligently on PPT 2.0. One new feature will be to identify stocks that are overbought or oversold within our system. Let’s face it, directional trading is all about emotion and momentum. A huge part of being successful is knowing when to get out of a winner, or step into a loser, with the hopes that the trend will reverse—making you (the retail misfit) look like a fucking genius. Our new overbought/sold indicator does exactly that, AND MORE.

The overbought list is fairly extensive, so I won’t bore you with that. However, the oversold list is somewhat compact. Therefore, I WILL bore you with it.

OVERSOLD (HYBRID):

count: 3
VLCM
GLS
GBE

OVERSOLD (TECH):

count: 7
PWND
PCY
NLR
EWT
EWP
RWF

NOTE: The PPT 2.0 will launch in late April to early May, God willing.

    Fly,

Anyway to due this with some Profund sector funds? It would make my day.

Although perhaps with funds you loose precision.

    Just an idea.

  2. arch says:

i have been watching BECN do you have that on your list ??? havent bought any at all but i might if it drops down 12-13…i sold my C BUT LOOKING TO RESPAWN @ 3.30-3.22

  3. Le Fly says:

The issue with funds is lack of volume. That is a huge factor in scores.

    • Hawaii Five0 says:

      Le Fly,

      OK.. I see.

What I am trying to do now is take the funds top (high % of fund) stocks and look at their scores, because the fund will usually follow these stocks as opposed to the bottom stocks.

I’m hoping PPT 2.0 will help me with this and that with time, I’ll be able to weight the stocks rapidly enough to get a sense of what the overall fund is doing in time to make a buy or sell decision.

It is messy though because each hybrid produces a different score and whereas some stock scores are similar other are quite disparate.

As such, I am looking forward to PPT 2.0.

Since the stock market started fucking you and your rhetoric in the ass with a fire hydrant, millions of jobs have been lost. Keep sticking to your doom and gloom nonsense, shaking your head that no one understands, and losing your shirt.

I’ll leave it at this. Won’t get fixated on your stupid shit any more. If I want to read morons, I’ll check in with the Dope of Grope.

      • JakeGint says:

The stupidest thing about that whole report is that the US is not going to lose any MORE jobs than it already has, it’s just going to fess up about how many jobs are already gone.

Which we pretty much know about already. Time for Uncle Ben to get those presses a-clacking again.

I believe the more important stat is the Underemployment rate which is over 17%.
These are people who have given up looking, took crappy temp jobs or are in just plain crap jobs not suited to their talents because the jobs just are not there.
A couple of weeks ago I ran into a PHD in Chemistry who got laid off over a year ago from a well paying job and is now working part time grading standardized exams for various states at $10/hr.

And here is ex-Orioles manager Earl Weaver answering questions on a baseball show (not for those under 18).

I doubt any manager could get away with this today.

  5. Speculation says:

    Fly,

What would be nice in the new PPT 2.0 system would be some sort of alerts system to send a message to our phone or email. Lets say Henry Fool writes about a stock on the wall then a message gets sent to our phone or email. A few other things that would be nice is a private messaging system, real time chat room, have the wall automatically update without having to push refresh,

  6. Le Fly says:

    Spec

All of that stuff is in the cards.

Is it just me, or is this the typical immediate result of entering a position?

And here is a notice from Treasury and the ObamaBots trying to figure out how they can take over 401Ks and IRAs and annuitize same (just like Argentina).
WARNING: Please do not read Jake. You won’t be able to sleep tonight.

  9. Dopes with No Hope says:

MAJOR TOP for US Dollar right here! That should be a huge tailwind for stocks going forward.

    • JakeGint says:

All that means is that healthcare is the most dynamic part of our economy. Idiots on the left side of Congress don’t realize that there are good jobs — very good jobs — attached to that number.

    Anyone in PEIX with me?

FYI: In case you haven’t seen Sam Antar’s latest OSTK post on SA I put it on your blog …

    • howie2092 says:

I grabbed some PEIX at $2 and more at $1.85. Great call so far.

Ethanol is a polarized issue, my NRA-lovin’ relatives think it’s devil-juice. Me, I use E85 in my truck whenever it’s available.

Some of the more forward-thinking young hot-rodders are tuning their cars to run E85 as it has higher octane than any pump gas, waaay cheaper than race gas, and it burns cooler too. Fun stuff.

Frankly, I never thought dollar reserves could be a “bubble”…. What will China do with the and or the rest of Asia do with it??? Buy more shit?

  13. JauShu says:

FLY, hurry up with the release. I have cancer and not a lot of time. I still hope to die with at least one trading success and 2.0 may be my last chance.

  14. Le Fly says:

Look at the man dressed in burlap on cnbc right now

  15. Speculation says:

I noticed the “Slow Stoch” indicator is at a bottom and turning up on the $SPX (S&P 500). Indicators are far from perfect, but they have worked well since March. I am wondering if it will keep working.

The major level I see on the $SPX is 1074 support and there is an upper resistance line that is not as solid as the support.

  16. JakeGint says:

Dollar looks like it is going to head to that $80.20 (or so) level after all, so folks, it’s time to “hunker in the bunker,” at least for the near term.

Don’t be afraid to throw grenades, however!
