Looking at longs in BLOX, RHT, or VEEV. Any favorite among them is always appreciated. Also, holding Dec. SBUX puts. Should I be cautious about its resilience into earnings?
It’s not that there isn’t a bubble, it’s that the exit strategy in bubble 2.0 is to be acquired pre-IPO instead of post-IPO.
As the old joke goes, someone being willing to bid $1.00 for 0.000000001% of your company doesn’t mean your business is actually worth $100B.
Get a high enough valuation pre-IPO and nobody at the company cares if it succeeds or flames out as long as they can get fuck-you money out of it. The odd part is some VCs rely on this – if the founder is already set for life, they’re more likely to take the sorts of 10x-or-nothing bets that the last round of VC investors require.
VC is like playing roulette with 36 individual bets on a wheel with an unknown number of pockets. If the wheel has 34 pockets, the house loses. If it’s 38, the VCs lose.
