I wrote the title of this blog post with tongue firmly planted cheek, since the main point here is that business synergies are only going to become more pronounced in the fast food industry in the years to come. What may seem like an absurd appeal to gluttony and one jumping the shark moment after the next, what with Taco Bell’s ($YUM) Doritos Locos Taco, and the Pop Tart ice cream sandwich above being tested by Carl’s Jr., is just a small appetizer of what I expect to come soon from all the fast food “restaurants.”
The above photo was posted to Instagram at a Carl’s Jr., the fast food joint owned by the now-private CKE Restaurants, Inc..
Consider other possibilities soon to come–Frank’s Red Hot sauce on top of the chicken at KFC? Or how about Ben & Jerry’s ice cream served at McDonald’s? The buyout chatter will only pick up. (Pop Tarts are owned by giant Kellogg, so I am not expecting any type of M&A activity there with Carl’s Jr., for what it’s worth).
Feel free to chime in below with other synergies you could envision in the fast food industry.

We have just received a lead on a photo emerging from a Carl’s Jr. location out of Newport Beach, CA that apparently is serving a Hand-Scooped Strawberry Pop-Tart Ice Cream Sandwich.
The photo appears to have originated from the location off of Newport Blvd and Industrial Way, for those familiar with the Southern California beach city. Interesting that the stoner-friendly sandwich emerged from Instagram user spec_j on the 4/20, but the sandwich indeed falls inline with the fast food chain’s recent line ice cream cookie sandwiches, following up on both an Oreo Ice Cream Sandwich and a Chocolate Chip Cookie Ice Cream Sandwich.

Ooh….Frank’s Red Hot at KFC or Popeye’s is genius! 😉
There has to be a market for that.
Been in a Sam’s club lately? The fast food sections are getting bigger, and with very low prices are quite popular.
Does McDonalds serve cold cereal for breakfast? Kelloggs is missing an opportunity. So is Whole Foods, as many MCD customers are young business people that might want something healthier than the usual fare.
Agree–the synergies will not just be total junk food.
Kate is the hottest pussy on the planet. However, I bet I could count the number of Carl’s cheeseburgers that she has consumed on one hand.
lol
Am I the only person who loves shoe string french fries as a pizza topping?
nice play
Unsolicited advice- Be smart and do unhealthy things in moderation, if at all. One day life will become very precious to you, in a way that you cannot know until you have most of life behind you. Have some fun, but take care of your body and mind.
That’s the truth right there.
