Winners Emerging Amongst the Gamers

Some of these numbers might need updating in 2013, but the gist of the following infographic is that we should be on watch for winners to emerge in the evolving gamer industry. BBY and GME have mounted impressive comebacks, and ATVI and TTWO are holding recent gains quite well.

Feel free to offer up any other ideas in the gamer or related plays, below.

The most underestimated factor in the gaming industry is the iTV. iPhone wasn’t even meant to be disruptive to gaming and ended killing the DS and PSP. iTV will do the same to Xbox and PS.

DIS will give one of the gaming companies the Star Wars games now that they shut down LucasArts. Big audience there.

Is there a way to short Nintendo? The Nintendo “Wii U” is doing horrible in sales from what I understand, compared to the earlier Nintendo Wii. The Wii U does not have any new features that capture the attention of the general public as their initial Wii did.

Microsoft is supposed to come out with the next Xbox (720?) this year. There is some rumors surrounding controversial features in the next Xbox model, like always having to be connected online to play anything, and also preventing used games from being played without paying a fee.

On the subject of digital delivery, private company Valve Software leads the way with their Steam platform. Electronic Arts has their own system called Origin, but Steam is the leader.

A few months ago there was some complaints in the PC gaming industry that Windows 8 was bad for desktop gaming, but so far I have not heard of any showstopping issues.

Ironically PC Gaming is highly dependent on Microsoft maintaining a stable Windows OS that can support the gaming consumer. So far this appears to be the case.
