Not every visit to a restaurant goes so smoothly. The waitstaff insulting you to your face is never really fun. And everyone who’s ever worked as a waitress or bartender knows that some customers are just downright crazy. In honor of Service Week, we put out the word for tales of restaurant visits gone wrong, and some good horror stories were sent our way. Some are about customers behaving badly. Others are about servers who are just way out of line. All are examples of things you probably wouldn’t want to deal with when you’re spending good money to go out on the town.
You Overheard What?!
From a Customer: “I once had two waiters at a national chain restaurant stand next to my table and take bets on if I could ‘eat the whole thing,’ meaning the food in front of me. One waiter replied to the other, ‘Sure she can – did you see the size of her ass?'”
From a Server: “I overheard a four-top of swingers talk about the weird things they wanted to do when they got back home. In fact, they talked about this for their entire two-hour meal. They were not whispering.”
