One has to wonder what this news flow does to folks at Intel who are still trying to sell and manage the McAfee line of products. It seems the name is tainted like the plague.
Even though his product is sound and his influence long gone, what if you managed an IT system what are you going with McAfee or a competitor?
If you buy a new device that comes with packaged security choices are you going with
McAfee or Symantec?
Which brings up $AVG check it out new agreements with Yahoo and Google. Stock is up 0.90 today on Yahoo news.
Over the long run, Intel bought McAfee to incorporate security in firmware on their processors, not to sell competitive products to Symantec. If they can pull it off, the name won’t matter. That’s assuming they don’t lose hardware share first.
