Chess,
Thank you for posting the attack summary. I went to the Arizona memorial and it is quite touching. You can see oil still coming to the water surface from the Arizona
Thanks, Chess, that graphic tells an interesting story. I didn’t know that the lead Japanese pilot known for “Tora, tora, tora”, converted to Christianity after the war.
Yes, thanks Chess. A most interesting, and sad, chapter in history.
Further reading: Prange’s “Pearl Harbor The Verdict of History” and “At Dawn We Slept”. Also Clausen’s “Pearl Harbor Final Judgement”.
Craddock’s book on the Japanese midget subs, “First Shot”, is excellent. There is a theory, with a tiny bit of evidence, that the Arizona might have been sunk by one of the midget subs. If that were true, a major re-evaluation of submarine warfare would be in order.
The Arizona memorial is indeed touching – well worth a visit.
