History Lessons

The first documentary below is one of my all-time favorites about history. Needless to say, despite all of the problems and issues in the present, it pales in comparison to the true Dark Ages faced by the Roman Empire during its decline. History says that all civilizations will meet a gruesome and hellish end, however advanced and powerful they may be in their golden ages. There has been a ton of speculation that America is perhaps near that inflection point. I seriously doubt that is the case anytime soon, but the cyclical nature of civilizations in recorded human history is humbling.

The second documentary has some interesting history about the Thanksgiving holiday itself.

Enjoy the turkey!

Interesting documentary. Hope we’re not headed that way.

I think it’s important to realize Rome “peaked” somewhere between 100 BCE and 100 CE, and the “decline” (historians hate that word) took hundreds of years. Things happened slowly, and the average Roman didn’t see the changes as a decline – that’s an interpretation from a modern viewpoint 1400 years after the fact.

And consider that in 400 CE an invading army could carry away the entire wealth of a nation in wagons – jewelry, furniture, coins; physical items. What would an invading army take now that’s valuable? Bank account numbers? Social Security stubs? Stock certificates? Marketing plans for the next iPhone? What would an equivalent decline of our society look like?

    Galileo v. Kepler.

    Columbus v. Lief

Catholic church’s story of “dark ages” remains tailored in insult.

Just as Rome was nothong but a traced expriment of Greece.

There are no equivelents to the States. It’s an empire whose student’s viewpoints preclude full appreciation.

Immigrants, illegals, freeloaders and the socialists have finally re-defined America. Get used to it. Anyone making around 45k can now drop out of the system, get ObamaCare, SNAP, subsidized housing, utilities and the real kicker, a tax refund.
It’s all free, get it while you can.

Then work side jobs for $10/hr. I tried to put some people on payroll at $10/hr to cut brush on forest land. No takers, don’t want to screw up their disability. But pay them under the table and they work all day.
