It doesn’t get much better than the great Stanley Kubrick-directed Spartacus (1960). Kirk Douglas and Laurence Olivier lead a cast for the ages.

I can’t remember what year it was… maybe 1993? when it was the big anniversary of Spartacus and they showed it in giganto screen (the original format) in a bunch of theaters in NYC. We saw it on 58th, right around the corner from the Plaza, and it was spectacular.
Ironically, it was one of my favorite flicks as a youngster… fully tv-edited of course, but it was still pretty good.
Love Woody Strode.
____________
Unknown fact…Daffy Duck auditioned for the lead….when he said the line: “I’M THPARTACUTH!” Kirk Douglas fired him AND the director, hence Kubrick.
