Grass-fed Beef vs Grain-fed Beef {Infographic}

This is true. To be fair, though, the excess fat in the grain fed cattle is completely intentional and enjoyed by many as being ‘the point’ of eating a big juicy steak. “Marbling” refers to the tiny rivulets of fat that course throughout the steak. More marbling results in a higher rating by the USDA. The ‘Prime’ steak you get at the fanciest steak houses earned the label Prime instead of Choice because it had MORE fat. Grass fed cattle sounds better to hippies, but Prime (all most likely grain-fed) steak tastes best to those who want to indulge on occasion in a rich NY strip that’s brimming with red-meat flavor.
What’s more interesting from a trading standpoint is figuring out what beef producing and restaurant industry stocks to play long/short due to the higher feed corn prices this year.
interesting, thanks
Seconded. I have some close family friends who have been raising grass-fed beef for decades. The cattle fatten at a slower rate, but it’s actually cheaper to allow a cow to graze on grassland than it is to go through the input-intensive act of fattening it with corn. The anti-biotic treatments are certainly something of which to be leery, though the notion that grass-fed cattle are not syringe-stabbed at regular intervals is hippie hopium.
I think I’m going back to all fish.
Well…except when in LV and at Del Frisco’s.
With a side of oil and chemical dispersant a la Gulf of Mexico or extra radioactivity Pacific style?
I was hoping for the radioactive Japanese swimmers actually.

FWIW, i adhere to almost everything this guy says.
plant-based diet makes sense to me
I’ve also found grass fed to be just plain tastier. Totally anecdotal evidence, but I’ve brought grass fed steaks to a few cookouts so far this summer, and had more than a few people asking me “those totally pissah streaks!” (I live in Boston) .
