The recent price action in coal, solar, and shipping stocks in particular has been impressive. In conjunction with their relative strength on Monday, the uptick in buying volume has been perhaps even more notable. All three of those sectors have been laggards for quite some time now, so calling major bottom to them is always a tough proposition. That said, as the broad market improves you can expect plenty of locking and rolling into these types of plays, out of extended names, if only for a respite.

From a weekly chart perspective, the bulls still have plenty of heavy lifting to do in coal, solar, and shipping, as you can see below. However, I am taking them more seriously now as viable plays, and will monitor individual setups as they materialize.
